"You have been there for me, even when I wasn't for you, of course, I am going to at least try," I said as I ate more of my ice-cream.
"We shouldn't be talking about this, it makes us both awkward. Thank you for sticking up for me, but let's just eat out ice cream." Dylan smiled.
We both stared at each other, awkwardly laughed, then reminded silent.
It was dark, the lights outlined the water, and we both starred out the view. Our little picnic table was uncomfortable, but not enough for us to leave the view. The ice-cream wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't horrible. Our relationship was still broken, but we were trying to heal it, the best we could.
"This carnival used to be better," I said
"Because we used to be kids, everything seems so much more magical when you're a kid. Then you grow up and learn there is no such thing as magic, everything has an explanation and everything is horrible." Dylan said as she threw her garbage away.
"Usually I am the extreme negative, depressed one." I laughed
"Though I would try out your role, I don't like it."
"Yeah, get out of my land and go back to your puppies and rainbows," I said as I threw my wrapper at her.
We laughed, we have laughed so much here. We really are trying to fix things, I miss her, and I think she misses me. I never realized how important it was to have a friend, a friend that was actually here. A real friend.
"So I do have a theory." Dylan started
"Okay, what is it."
"Well, I believe in fairy tales, and love, and the classic cliche stories."
"Okay, I know this."
"Yeah, and you know. The boy catches the girl, helps pick up her books, they realize their love for either after years of-"
"Get to your theory."
"Let me finish."
"OKay." I giggled to my self.
"The girl falling in love with her best friend, who has been in love with her this whole time."
"Dylan. Stop." I laughed
"Hear my theory, let me finish."
I just stared at her, letting her know that she could continue. Shawn and I were not a thing, he didn't love me, and of course, I had feelings for him, but things old get in the way. I needed Shawn to stay in my life and I didn't want to ruin anything.
I needed Shawn more than ever, I couldn't get through this without him. He needed to stay as my best friend, and nothing more.
"You said that you have heard every song before he releases it ... right? Dylan questioned
"Yeah, so."
"You also said he wouldn't let you hear his newest song. You have to wait until it gets released."
"So, maybe got in trouble for sending me songs?"
"Wouldn't he have told you that?"
"I don't know."
"See my point."
"No, because even if it was about me, I wouldn't be able to guess that it was, like he has a lot of songs, all about girls feelings. I wouldn't know it was about me."
"Unless you would know, maybe this one is specific, maybe you would actually know this one is about you."
"Okay, let's say that is the case. I am going to hear it anyway, because it's going to be released, if he didn't want me to hear it, he wouldn't have written it, he wouldn't have told me about it."
"He can't just show you, but if he releases it, he has no control, maybe he wants you to hear it, he just can't be the one o show you?"
"You really thought about this." I laughed
"I did."
"We just go, it's getting late," I said
"Yeah, we should."
I walked into my bedroom and slowly shut the door, my parents were awake, but I didn't want to be too loud. I laid down on my bed and stared up at my ceiling.
Shawn. Shawn, Shawn, how? He couldn't. He could have feelings for me. No, we are best friends.
"Hey sweetie, how was Dylan?" My mom said as she crawled into bed with me.
"Hello to you too."
"We used to do this when you were little, lay down and look at the ceiling. When I was your age, it helped me figure out things, so I did it when you were a kid too."
"Well, it does help."
"I know, so what are you trying to figure out this time?" My mom smiled, still staring at the ceiling.
"Shawn."
"Oh."
"Oh what? Don't you want to know what it's about?" I asked as I looked at her.
She turned her attention to me and looked me in the eyes, She smiled then stood up from the bed and walked towards the door.
"Mom."
"Sammy, everyone knows, except for you and Shawn. "
"Knows what?"
She walked out.
And a few moments, Shawn walked in.
"How was your night?" He asked as he took off his shirt to change.
HIs back muscles were well defined. He was so attractive, but he was my best friend. His hair from every angle was perfect, but I couldn't think about things like that. He would be the greatest thing for me but as a best friend.
"Sammy?" He said Turing around and pulling his bed shirt on.
"What, sorry I didn't hear you."
"I asked how your night was."
"It was interesting, it was good."
Hey everyone! How was your January?? This is a shorter chapter but I thought it was cute :)
