I stand there frozen. Standing in front of me is the Devil himself; Aaron Stone. I'm making a fool of myself. I say to myself. "Hey, Aaron. Didn't know we were neighbors." I say. He shrugs. "Come in." I say opening the door to revealing my overly enthused mother. Aaron and his family walk in. I walk back to my seat next to Rain. Ryan scowls. My mother silently scolds him. He shrugs. I get up and take Rain with me.
"Did you know of this?" I ask. She shakes her head. "No, I'm just as surprised as you." She whispers back. I put on a fake smile and walk back to the living room. I feel as if his parents thought of me as the girl Aaron should never speak with. Little did they know he is just as bad. I decide to say something. Anything.
"Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Stone. I'm Sky this is Rain, Ryan, and Ava." I say as I extend my hand. Mrs. Stone accepts it. "Hello, dear. It's nice to meet you. I'm Stacy and this is my husband Jace." She replies. I smile. My mother passes by me and gives Stacy a hug. "Oh, Stacy! So nice to see you again!" My mother exclaims. "Mia!" Stacy exclaims. "Jace. This is Mia King. I told you about her earlier." Stacy explains to her husband. I look past the tall figures and see a little girl around the age of 12. I stare for a while longer than I should have. She turns and meets my gaze. Aaron seems to notice.
"Ah. Sky, this is my little sister Jasmine." He says. Jasmine waves. "Hi, Jasmine. I'm Sky. This is my twin Rain and this is Ryan and Ava." I say gesturing behind me where I am certain they're standing. Ava jumps over to me. Aaron stares at the small child in my lap. Ava jumps around looking at all the people in our living room. She looks at Aaron and tilts her head. "H-hi?" She says. Being 20 months old, she can only say small phrases. Aaron chuckles and waves his huge hands. Ava struggles to jump off my lap and scampers away.
"How old is she?" He asks. "20 months." I reply. He seems satisfied. "Is she your sister?" He asks. I freeze. I've only told my family this. "No..." I say. His eyes widen. "She's my.... Daughter." I finish. He stares. He leans in. "Who's the father?" He whispers. I frown. "I don't like to talk about it. Don't tell anyone. And I mean anyone." I say as I glare. He raises his hands in surrender. "I won't." He says. I sigh and enter our kitchen.
"Hey, Ma. Need help?" I ask. "No. It's almost done." She says. I smile. Spaghetti is my favorite. I skip into the living room and see my Ava on Ryan's lap. I smile yet again. I swear I'm going soft. I say to myself. I walk over to my twin and sit down. "DINNER'S READY!" My mom yells. Damn, she wasn't kidding. I say to myself. We all get up and walk into the dining room. Since Ava's my daughter, I feed her. Aaron sits to my left with Ava to my right. "Great." I mutter. Ava bounces in the highchair. I roll my eyes.
Don't make a mess for mommy. I think. I try to spoon feed her. Key word. Try. I sigh and pour her plate of spaghetti on the tray and let her do whatever. I look down at my food and start to eat. I look over at Aaron who is staring at Ava. I look over and she has got spaghetti all over her. I gape. "Might as well leave her 'til she's finished." I say and I continue eating. My mother gives me a weak smile. All I want to do is read on Wattpad. I think.
I finish my food and glance at everyone who have broken into multiple conversations. I get up and rinse my plate. I walk back to the chair I have been sitting in. "So, Sky. Where do you go to school?" Stacy asks. I smile. "I got to the same school as Aaron." I answer. "How old is Ava?" Jace asks. "She's 20 months." My mother answers. Jace nods his head. Damn nosey people. I think. We finish dinner and dessert.
"Why don't you kids do something?" My mom says. That's code for 'Get the hell out. Gossip time!' Poor Jace. I think. I take Aaron and Jasmine to the room we have the board games and the X-box's in. "Have at it." I say as I walk out of the room. "Where are you going, Sky?" Aaron asks. "The built-in gym." I say. Yeah, on the outside our house is tiny. But on the inside, it's like a mansion. I slip into my room to grab shorts and boxing gloves and possibly better shoes. I change and head into the gym.
I start at the treadmill, working on my pace. Then, I use the balance beam. After around 15 minutes, I start the punching bag. I work up a pace until I feel a presence. I know better than to go for a punch blindly in home home with guests. Slowly, I turn to see Aaron in the door way. I smirk. "Checking me out, Deranged Man in this room?" I ask. He chuckles. I roll my eyes. I take off the gloves and exit the room.
I trudge down the hall to Rain and I's room. I throw the gloves and grab my phone, speakers, ballet shoes, and my confidence. I walk down the hall and into the dance/music room. I know. TOO MANY ROOMS!! I plug in my speakers and phone and lace up my shoes. I put on River Flows In You Nightcore. Brave I know, right. Since a mad man is following you. *Cough, Aaron, Cough* I start the music and let it flow.
Before I know it, it's over. I suddenly hear clapping. I can't help but blush. I bow and scamper over to the speakers and shut them down. My mom says we have so many rooms because her children are too talented. I love to dance and sing. Ryan loves to play instruments. Rain loves art and music, she'd be the one to my your graduation mix tape. Ava already loves to sing and draw. I sigh and bring my stuff to my room. I throw my hair up on top of my head and walk back out to get a drink. Aaron seems like a lost puppy. I roll my eyes and pour myself some water. "Drink, Aaron?" I ask. "Sure." He replies. I hand him the cup and we sit in the kitchen. Mom would kill us if we spilt anything. Even water.
"You're a great dancer, Sky." He says. "Thanks." I reply shyly. Not an act. That's it! I'm going soft. I shout in my head. I finish my water and dry off my cup. "AARON! JASMINE! WE'RE LEAVING!!" Stacy yells for her children. Jasmine and my siblings run down the stairs. "COMING, MOTHER!" Aaron yells back. I roll my eyes and chuckle softly. We walk to the living room where my mother and Aaron's parents are saying their goodbyes and they leave.
"Thank God that's over...." Rain mumbles. Ryan rolls his eyes. "What? The tension in there...." Rain shudders. I giggle. "It wasn't that bad." I shrug. Ava runs into my arms. "Momma!" She exclaims. "C'mon, baby. It is way past bedtime." I say. Ava throws her head bag. I chuckle and carry my daughter upstairs into her room. I set her down and kiss her. "Good night. I love you, Ava." I whisper as I walk out. I yawn and walk back downstairs.
"Rainy? What time is it?" I ask. She looks at her phone. "10:30." She says. I groan. "Goodnight, siblings." I say. Ryan mutters a 'night' and Rain follows me. I walk into the kitchen. "Night, momma." I say to my mother and give her a kiss on the cheek. "Goodnight my loves." She says. I yawn once more and walk up the stairs with my twin on my tail. I flop on my bed and sigh. Rain does the same. I strip off my shirt and shorts and lay back down. "Night, Rainy-poo." I say. "Night, sissy." She says back. I drift off to sleep thinking of my father.
