As they crashed through the barn doors, reducing the entire building to little more than a bunch of matchsticks, Tetra felt her stomach lurch, and she clutched at her seat for dear life. The motorcyclists fired at their with their guns and launchers, and though most missed or didn't make it through the hull of the helicopter, one of the launcher's explosions offset the balance of the steadily rising copter, sending it careening into the gorge, making it hit a tree and disconnecting one of the blades from the rotor. All around people are screaming and all Tetra can think is 'it's happening again, it's happening again, it's happening again, this is how I die'.
The ground is rapidly approaching; Spencer balances himself out the side of the vehicle and uses brute strength to pull at the disconnected piece of machinery, pulling the whole helicopter out of it's nosedive, but he needs to reconnect it if they want any chance of survival. Alex is explaining how to reconnect the blades whilst still trying to pilot, but all Tetra knows is that she's probably going to die, and that Martha's nails are digging into her shoulder. She focuses on that, rather than her impending doom; with a shakey hand, she reaches and covers Martha's with her own in a gesture of solidarity, and after a moment, one of Bethany's hand reaches out and joins them, the woman herself almost hyperventilating.
"It'll be okay, girls, we can get through this." She tried to assure them over Fridge's screaming. And then the drums kick in and Tetra lurches forward, ripping herself from their grip, dry heaving at the very sound, ignoring the other's voices around her as they state their own nervousness. She's never been this far before, doesn't know what lies beyond the gorge beyond the sense of a few scattered wolves, but the drums never mean good things, and there's a sharp cliff face looming up ahead, and they don't seem to be pulling out of this quickly. As the drums fade out, the sound of thundering footsteps takes it's place.
"Albino rhinos!" Fridge proclaims, looking out behind the helicopter. "They're indigenous to Jumanji; they're huge, fast, scary, and they eat people." He stated, reassuring absolutely no-one. With the cliff fast approaching, the other are yelling for Alex to make the helicopter go up, but he still can't, Spencer is still working to fix the rotor as it's moving, and it's only within a moment's notice that the machinery's back in place, and the whole vehicle launches itself skywards. It's a rough exit, the helicopter off balance as it twists this way and that, missing cliff faces by inches, and trees by millimetres, everyone holding on for dear life lest they fall out as the cabin finds itself almost sideways, but they make it.
Tetra kept quiet, pressing her eyes closed as her heart beat almost out of her chest. The sky, she knows, is blue and serene, but she refuses to see it. After a moment, she feels a hand on her thigh and knows instinctively that it's Alex's, and lets out a breath she had been holding since the helicopter hand been fixed and they first shot upwards. She thinks they're safe, that they're out of the woods, metaphorically speaking, until Fridge speaks up.
"Whoops." His voice is so deadpan yet guilty that it makes everyone stop dead.
"What?" Snapped Spencer, brow creased in concern.
"I dropped the jewel." Fridge admitted, still drunk enough to not feel supremely guilty.
"What?!" Spencer spluttered this time, "you drop the jewel!?" He cried, hands going to his head like he'd be pulling out his hair if he had any.
"I leaned over," Fridge elaborated, demonstrating and motioning to the open side of the cabin, "'cause I thought I had to puke, and I didn't, and it came outta my backpack." He looked down at the forest below, avoiding eye contact. Tetra could feel a headache forming above her brow, which was honestly better than her other reaction, which would be to pitch herself from the helicopter after the jewel.
