Dear Anxiety, I wish I could say that we have grown apart But you like to visit at least once a day. If not every day, then every week. We sit together, late at night, talking about all the things I don't like to hear...No one likes you, Why would they? You are a disappointment, no one cares, Why should they? You're a burden on everyone, Why would they want that weight on their shoulders? As the time passes, As it becomes later in the night, you introduce me to your best friend, Depression. The two of you throw me into a loop of negativity. You suffocate me, making it hard to breathe, repeating all the things I cannot bear to hear. When I see the two of you together everything around me freezes. My breathing labored, my lungs feel as though they are bound in chains, tears flow down my face, nonstop, my heart beats rapidly, as if it is going to fly out of my chest. Seconds, Minutes, Hours go by. the two of you singing your songs of torment. Over and over repeating the same lines, singing them at the tops of your lungs, until I am broken down, with a tear stained face...breathless It comes to the end of the night, the sun will be rising soon. That is when you both finally say your goodbyes. Goodbye anxiety. Goodbye depression. I hope to never meet again, but I know that, that is too much to ask. Sincerely, Your lovely broken girl
