LEANNE AIANNE'S POV
"Ahem." Someone cleared a throat which pulled me back into the present. The woman beside Wonwoo noticed me — the woman who triggered bitter memories from the past.
"Hi! I'm Sohye. Kim Sohye." She introduced with a smile and extended a friendly hand at me. I momentarily stared at her hand before shaking it.
"I know you. You're Aianne Altiere, right?" She said when I let go of her hand. "You're that very famous and skilled car racer."
I was a little confused why she knew me. But then, maybe she saw my face or heard my name somewhere.
"It's Leanne Aianne Altiere." I confirmed crisply.
"Ah . . ." She smiled. "The sound of your name is really cool. It's nice to hear. It suits you well."
Wonwoo suddenly coughed noisily beside her, intentionally cutting her off.
"Are you sick?" Sohye irritatedly asked Wonwoo as she turned to him only for him to roll his eyes at her.
They exchanged an angry look at each other, completely ignoring of me. It made me feel awkward and uneasy. I felt like watching a show I'm not supposed to watch. I felt like I was stepping into a private scene and territory.
"Excuse me?" I said, taking both of their attention. "I'll see you around, then."
"Oh . . ."
I could see how Sohye's face flushed. Maybe she was embarrassed having me as the audience of their little show.
I smiled to ease her concern. "It's okay. It was nice to meet you, by the way, and thank you for coming. I hope you enjoy the night."
"Ah, it's nice to meet you too." She immediately replied and I noticed how she elbowed him on his side.
I turned to Wonwoo and found him looking at me closely. I had the sudden urge to run, or hide, because I felt like he could see right through me.
But it's impossible. He wouldn't see anything – nothing.
I slowly dragged my nervousness away before I offered my hand to him. He silently watched how my hand came up until it was right in front of him.
I never thought I could say them out loud again, but my lips moved and I heard my voice spoke his name once again.
"Wonwoo." I said and calmed myself as so many emotions run through my whole system.
"It's nice to see you again." I said without a little joy in my voice. In fact, I sounded too cool and unattached, as if I was just talking about the weather.
His face suddenly turned grim and then, something shifted in his gaze. But before I could name it, he was already looking down, shielding his eyes from me with his lids.
He stared at my hand for a while until I felt my arms numbed. His gaze met mine again but now, it's not like from before. He's calmer now. His expression turned searching.
I averted my eyes and sighed. Wonwoo doesn't seem to be in the mood for a hand shake so I ragged my hand down.
My breathe hitched when he suddenly met my hand half way and held it.
I became muted at the sensation running through my whole body with just that one simple touch.
I stared at him. Again, his eyes shifted. But this time, I named one.
Desire . . .
Suddenly, the air grew thick and heat radiated from his palm throughout my body, spreading like a wildfire. And I felt like a helpless moth drawn to a dangerous flame.
