Just Another Girl

Chapter 8

"Jenna! Wait!" Mal said trying to catch up to her. Jenna stops walking and waits for Mal to catch up, "Thank you for not telling anyone about last night."

"No problem." Jenna stated, she looks outside to the tourney field, "See you out there."

"You play Tourney?" Mal asked.

    "No. I'm a cheerleader." Jenna said. "But I would love to play tourney, but no one would let me."

    "Come on. Even you said it wasn't hard. You can try out if you really want to."

    "I guess it would never hurt to try." Jenna said. "Thanks Mal!"

    "No problem." Mal said.

    Jenna went out onto the tourney field and smiled with confidence. She passed the cheerleaders and went to see the tourney coach.

    "Jenna did you forget where the cheerleaders are?" Coach Jenkins asked. He stopped talking to Jay and Carlos to talk to Jenna.

    "No, I actually wanted to tryout for Tourney." Jenna said. She saw all the cheerleaders mouth wide open, and she saw Chad starting to laugh.

    "Jenna do you really think you can play Tourney?" Chad asked.

    "Yes I do. When someone unathletic like you can do it, I am pretty sure I can." Jenna said.    

    "Coach let her try out." Ben said. "Plus you are also letting Jay and Carlos try out too."

    "Fine!" Coach Jenkins said.

    "Great!" Jenna said.

    "Jenna go and put this uniform on." Coach Jenkins said. He chucked the uniform at her, and she caught it.

    "Thank you." Jenna mouthed to Ben.

    "Go Benny Boo!" Audrey screamed.

"Jay, Ben, offense. Chad, you're defense. Taylor, you're the shooter." Coach Jenkins said.

    "Right, coach! Chad said.

"What about me coach?" Jenna asked.

"Right. How about you go offense with Jay, and Ben." Coach Jenkins said.

"Okay." Jenna said.

"You'll never be on this team." Chad said.

"We'll see about that." Jenna said.

"You know what to do?" Ben asked Jenna.

"Hey I have payed a lot more attention to this game then you think." Jenna smiled.

"Lets see it." Ben said.

"Okay." Jenna said. She got in between Jay and Ben. She looked over at Jay and saw that he winked at her. Jenna looked over and saw Carlos walking around the field lost.

"Hey. Hey! Hey, you. Lost boy! Put your helmet on. Get out of the kill zone!  Come on." Coach Jenkins said.

"Kill zone? Wha..." Carlos said confused.

"Pick it up. Put it on! Two hands. Ahh!" Ben said. The game started and Ben passed it to Jenna, and she saw that Jay was opened so she chucked it to him.

"Jay, It's me! It's Carlos!  Wait, stop, Jay. Stop! No, no, no, no. No! Ahh!" Carlos screamed. Jay scored a goal, and everyone was happy except for Audrey.

"Oh, yeah! Come on, let's go! Oh! Whoo! Whoo, whoo! Oh! Oh!" Jay said dancing.

"What just happened? Who is this guy? You! Get over here!" Coach said, he waited for Jay to come over to continue. "What do you call that? I call that raw talent. Come find me later. I'll show you something you haven't seen before. It's called a rule book. Welcome to the team, son." He looked over at Carlos, "You ever thought about band?"

"I'll work with him, coach. All right. Let's run that again." Coach Jenkins said.

"Whoo!" Jay screamed.

"Jenna? You're doing great! Nice pass." Coach Jenkins said patting her on the back.

"Thanks." Jenna said.

Practice was done, and Jenna did really well. She shocked everyone on the team, and even a few of the cheerleaders. Chad, well he never really wanted her on the team, but that didn't stop her.

  Jenna started to walk to the bleachers, but Audrey stuck out her leg making Jenna trip, and fall on the ground.

    "Oops sorry I didn't see you there. I guess you should go walk that off." Audrey laughed.

    Jenna started to get up, and she saw a hand trying to help her up. She looked up and saw it was Jay. He pulled her off the ground and smiled.

    "Thank you Jay." Jenna said smiling back at him. She started to walk back to her dorm but Ben stopped her.

    "Are you okay?" Ben asked.

    "Ben, can you come over here?" Audrey asked, when he didn't answer she screamed. "BEN!"

Jenna looked at him in a way that Ben will never forget. Jenna was disappointed that Ben chose Audrey and he will always choose Audrey. When Ben started to walk over to Audrey, Jenna couldn't take Audrey's smile once she's won a battle. So she immediately left before she could even look at Audrey or Ben. Jay saw Jenna's upset look and ran up to her.

"Jenna are you okay?" Jay asked putting his hand on her shoulder. Ben looked behind and saw that Jay had his hand on Jenna's shoulder.

He thought, "I wish that I could be the one comforting you right now." Audrey pulled him back into the conversation with the other cheerleaders.

    "I'm fine." Jenna replied to Jay. She wiped the tears running down her cheek and smiled.

    "You don't look fine." Jay commented.

    "Thanks for being concerned, but is it okay if I walk by myself for a little bit?" Jenna asked.

    "Okay." Jay said.
