The Distant Dying

Our one shared planet split three ways

First world sunshine, third world grey

Some with clean water, some without

Some with rain, and some with drought

Some bellies full, in peak condition

Some swollen through malnutrition

Some stomachs rumble on lunch breaks

Some live with yearning, starving aches

Some wage war in quests for oil

Some have the fighting on home soil

Some lives create a shared pollution

Some lives are lived in sheer exclusion

Some browse the aisles in grocery shops

Some rely on yields and crops

Some are saved by a state healthcare

Some rely on unanswered prayer

The first world dwell under blue skies

While across the world, the distant die
