Aurora stepped out of the car. The wind was blowing slightly, cooling her skin, which was hot to the touch, and giving her hair a very attractive, whipped look. She liked it like that. Her curled brunette hair went well with her short gold cocktail dress.

She made sure she was dressed to the nines tonight. For one, it was the grand opening of a casino, so everyone was decked out in the most expensive names. And the second was that she hadn't seen Enzo in a couple of months. She needed to be dressed in her finest battle armor.

She needed to keep the alliance strong. Especially with so much on the line besides wanting to keep the emerald ring attached to her finger

"We aren't even to accompany you inside?" Aries grumbled. He looked up and down at the casino, which was roaring with life and alcohol and the occasional white powder falling from open windows. His face morphed into one of distrust.

"No," Aurora said. "Well, you aren't. But if you insist on not trust me, then I suppose two of your guards can come with me. But if they leave my side for one moment to have a look at something, I'm ditching them and your communication is cut off. So, I suggest you be very clear with your men of my expectations tonight."

"You don't think we will behave?"

"Absolutely not," Aurora rolled her eyes. "Enzo is on the edge tonight. I have to pull him back or we are going to have to go back to that hole in the building meeting spot and come up with a new plan. And right now, they aren't happy with the bullet they found in their wall."

"I do not trust you."

"I wouldn't either. But you are still here."

"A mystery," Aries frowned.

"Yes."

Aurora snapped her fingers at two of the men that were lingering near the other limo that had been filled with Aries's men. They realized they were to follow her. With a nod of Aries's approval, they ran to become her tail.

Aurora bypassed the line. Instead, she walked up to the bouncer, who was managing the very long line that even extended into an alley. Loving every chance at causing mayhem, she smiled at the protests. "Hello, Greggory," she purred at the large belly man dressed tightly in a green suit.

Greggory lifted one bushy eye in surprise. He had to look twice at her with disbelief. "Aurora? Is that really you?"

"Yes. In the flesh." She glanced into the windows of the casino doors. There were so many people that they were being smushed against the windows. "Is Enzo here?"

His eyes flickered to the guards behind her. "Who are they?"

"My entourage. They're being paid to make sure no one is cheating during poker, and no one kills me," she said drily. "Now, is he here or do I need to seek someone else's company tonight?"

"He's here," Greggory said slowly.

"Hmm. Well I can tell it has been a while if the rope still has not moved and you are only looking for my ring," Aurora forced out a laugh. She pulled her hand out from behind her back and proudly showed off her sparkling green ring.

"That ring isn't the key to the city," Greggory muttered. "One day it will be taken away and you won't be able to walk into any door that you're told is locked."

"Why do you think it will be taken away?" Aurora asked suspiciously. She eyed her ring, which was still faithfully stuck to her middle finger. It had been hers for as long as she could remember, ever since Enzo had laid eyes on her that fateful night.

Greggory barked out a laugh. "You have been gone for a while, Aurora. Go up and see Enzo. You will see exactly why he has moved on."

"We'll see about that," Aurora griped.
