Letter from Carl

Negan's P.O.V.

" That man that they killed is Dean! That means the other 38 are from the satellite outpost! Those are my men! I am going to kill every last one of those farmers !" Simon spoke angrily. Negan stood up towering over Simon.

"People are a resource! Once we kill Rick everything is aces again! We will handle these assholes! I will talk about that situation with you Simon later today.

In the meantime, I have another problem. What I want to know is how the hell that damn doctor and priest managed to escape?"

" We don't know," Regina spoke gravely as she glared over at me.

" Why don't you ask her? They are her people! " She spat.

They all looked at me waiting to hear what I would say. I calmed my anger before opening my mouth.

" I used to live with them that's true, but my loyalty is to Negan. I would never betray him like that, besides I wasn't even here to help them!"

I exclaimed as I crossed my arms over my chest. Regina didn't seem convinced ." All I know is they had help planning their escape. How else would they have been able to leave right at the moment the south gate was unguarded?"

"
I don't know! Maybe Dwight helped them with escaping before he left! He was working with Rick before be died ." Regina's eyes narrowed as she leaned forward on the table ." Dwight did betray us, so I guess it's possible ."

Negan looked between us both as he leaned back and crossed his legs then placed them on the table.

" I don't care who helped them leave! I just want Carson back here. Katie needs him for the delivery of our baby ."

The door swings open causing our meeting to come to an abrupt halt. " Sir, there is a man at the gate and he says he has a letter for Katie.

I furrowed my brows in confusion.

" Who did he say the letter was from ?"

"He said it was from somebody named Carl."

I brought my hand over my mouth shock evident on my face.

" I am coming ." Negan reached out his hand grabbing my forearm.

" Do you want me to come with you ?"

I shook my head ." No, you're needed here. I will be back ."

I spoke softly trying to keep myself from crying. The pain of losing Carl is so fresh on my mind. I hate that somebody so young died. I walked to the door grab in the handle of the door and shut it quietly behind me. " Where is he at?

" I asked as I followed the man down the hall ." He is at the north gate. He claims that Carl asked him to bring it to you before he died but when he arrived at hilltop to deliver it, you had left ."

I nodded affirming the man's word as we opened the door and made our way down the hall.

The cool air causes chill bumps to erupt on my skin as I finally reach the gate. I notice a man with dark hair and skin. He is tall and skinny and is clutching a white envelope in his hand. I clasped my hands on the metal bars as I looked at him. " Who are you ?"

He looks at me smiling warmly ." You are Katie right ?" Yes, I am ." He placed his hand on his heart as he bows his head ." My name is Siddiq. Carl saved me in the woods a couple days ago.

He was bitten that same day. Only he never said anything to anyone until the night Negan came and burned Alexandria to the ground ."

I glanced at his hands holding the white envelope with my name on it ." Is that what you wanted to give me ?" I gestured to the white letter he was holding ." Yes, it is. Rick also wanted me to tell you that I am a dr. I can help you when the time comes for your baby to be born ."

I smiled warmly at him ." Thank you so much. How is Rick doing ?" Siddiq's face fell ." He is grieving the loss of his child. I can't imagine the pain he feels in his heart.

Tears started falling down my face as I remembered mine and Carl's last words. " I am sure Rick and Michone are in a lot of pain. Do you know where they buried him ?"

They buried him in Alexandria. " I wiped the tears from my cheeks as I sucked in a breath ." Please tell Rick I am sorry for his loss and that I will do what I can to allow him time to grieve. " I will do that. " I heard heavy steps approaching me that caused me to turn around ." Well, who is this ?"

Negans voice echoed loudly across the yard. " His name is Siddiq, he came to give me a letter that Carl wrote before he died. "

Negan wrapped his arm around my shoulder as his intense gaze fell on the man. " You look familiar. Have I seen you before ?" Siddiq stuttered under the pressure ." I was a medical resident maybe you saw me at the hospital ?" Then suddenly Negan smirked as he held Lucile tight in his hand ." A medical resident huh? So, you are a doctor ?"

" Yes, I am ." Negan smiled.

" Well, I would like to you to share.re. My wife is pregnant and I want a doctor to take career.er. What do you say ?"

Siddiq was unsure of what to say but then he smiled as he looked at me ." I will hoCarl.rl. He did ask me to make sure that your baby was taken care of Katie ."

Negan glanced at the tower ordering it to be opened ." Welcome to the sanctuary. What did you say your name was ?" Negan asked as the gate closed behind us ." Siddiq, my name is Siddiq ." I see, well I am glad there.re. Why don't you follow my man Simon and he can show you to a room."

"Thyou.ou. Katie here is letter.er. I hope it brings you peace ."

" Thank you so much ."

Negan and I walked back to our room both not saying a word. I sat down on the edge of the bed as I held the letter in my hand. I tried to open it but my fingers couldn't seem to properly open it.

Negan glanced at me then sat down by me and took the letter in his hands gently ripping open.en. He hands me the paper in my trembling hands. I let out a sigh as I gently unfolded it.

Katie,  I am sorry that I am leavyou.ou. I know you have lost so many people in your life and now I am on them.em. I wish I could stay here but the harshness of this world won't althat.at. I was really hoping to see your baby born and be to able to teach him or her how to survive.

I know you will be a good mother and that Negan will take care of both. Please do what you can to end this war. It needs to end not just for my family's sake but for the future of cichlid.

If we find a way to work together with fewer people wide.ie.
The world I imagine is a world where we all work together and help each survive.ve.

If we could put aside our hate then we would stronger know my dad has made it clear that he wants Undead, ad, but I am hoping he will change his mind after.

Life is so precious and it's only when our lives are ending that we can appreciate just how sacred it is.

We all made mistakes in this life and wrong has been done by both sides. I truly believe if we are willing to put our differences aside we can beat world.ld. I need you to promise me, Katie,  that no matter what happens. You will make sure my little sister is okay.

I don't know if my dad and Negan can ever reconcile, but Judith needs you if some happen. I love you Katie, and I promise I will say hi to your parents and Trey for you. Good luck. I love you.

I leaned my head against Negans chest as loud sobs escaped my lips.

"Why? Why did he have to die ?"

Negan stroked my hair trying to soothe me.

" I don't  know baby, this shit just isn't fair ."
