Rae's pov

For some odd reason, Zairen completely bailed on me after third period.

Maybe I have been pushing the whole girlfriend subject a bit out of proportion, but I didn't mean to scare her off.

I have been standing at these god forsaken stair case for over five minutes and I have found no sign of her.

A gentle hand hovered my shoulder before yanking me back into a secluded corner.

"Z, what the fuck! I have been calling you. What happened?"

She nervously raised her hand to the back of her neck.

"I was walking Nia to her next class and I couldn't help but feel like she kept flirting with me. I ignored it for a minute, but then she asked me to meet her in the bathroom."

For some reason the grip on my phone tightened. It was a bit weird, but everything has an explanation, right?

"That is pretty weird, but why not try to talk to her."

She signed. I don't know why she was so nervous. Sania is attractive, and seems really sweet.

"You want me to have a girlfriend, not another fling Rae."

I couldn't help but giggle. Even though this was weird, it was a bit funny.

"I can't blame her, you do look cute in your team sweater."

Ok, maybe this wasn't the right moment to tease her. At least it lighten the mood a little.

A red tint appeared on her cheeks, I never knew why I affected her that way, but I did. Ever since I met her she has never been able to look me in the eyes after I compliment her. She seems so sensitive to it, yet I know a shit ton of girls who says way more than me and she brushes it off like it never happened.

I mean bestfriends can compliment each other, right? Before I could scold her some more a bubbling feeling raised in my stomach.

"Can we please go, I'm starving."

I whined, she grabbed my hand dragging me up the stairs and into the cafeteria line.

We grabbed our trays collecting the food from the lunch lady's. The entire time she kept peering around the building looking for any sign of the brunette. I could feel Zairen's nervousness on the back of my neck and frankly it was uncomfortable.

"See, no Nia here. Can you stop doing that, you're freaking me out."

I left to head towards an available lunch table, taking a seat on the cold metal. The hazel eyes sat across from me, trying to eat yet failing horribly. Her leg moved up and down on the glassy floor below, while the half fry fell stuck between her teeth.

"Z, come on it's not all that serious."

She scoffed meeting my brown eyes with hers, finally stopping her legs from quivering.

"Easy for you to say, she is heading this way now."

As if on cue the brunette took a seat next to me shooting us an award winning smile.

"Hello."

She took a bite out of her salad as if everything was normal while Zairen's ongoing leg still shook the table. I swear if this lasted any longer I was going to explode. Especially since this crop top is new and I would like to not have salsa on my shirt.

Seeing that Z wasn't going to say anything I cleared my voice and took matters into my own hands.

"Sania, Z would like to talk with you about something."

My bestfriends eyes shot to mine sending me a look of anger. The blue eyed girl just looked between me and Zairen confused.

"In private."

I finished, knodding my head to a secluded corner, signaling for her to get up and walk.

Rolling her eyes she groaned obeying my orders while the brunette followed.

No one's pov

Both girl's stood there awkwardly. One not knowing how to start the conversation while the other was completely oblivious to the situation.

Nia gave in, breaking the thick tension in the air with her beautiful accent.

"Did I do something wrong? I don't mean to be trouble on my first day since you have been such a delightful help."

Letting out a nervous breath, the hazel eyed girl spoke trying to minimize the tremble in her voice.

"No it's not that. Earlier you asked me to go to the bathroom with you and..."

She was cut off by a small giggle. Causing a confused expression to appear across her face.

"I apologize for that. While you where telling me more about the school this girl kept following us."

Zairen was relived yet intrigued.

"She stopped me in class and told me told me to ask you out for her, yet she seemed a bit...off, so I tried to steer her away."

The girl's pale white hand reached into her pocket pulling out a tiny slip of paper.

"She wanted me to give this to you."

Taking it from her fingers, the athlete read the cursive handwriting she knew all to well.

Sarah

Her brain clicked, processing the newly recieved information. Thankful for the girls quick thinking.

" I'm so sorry, her name is Sarah she is this crazy ass girl who has been stalking me since midle school. I feel so bad for assuming you where..."

She waved her hand through the air dismissing the girl's rambling apology.

"It's fine really, I'm actually bisexual but I wouldn't do that to you."

The comment sent the athlete into another confused state.

"Do what to me?"

She just recieved a soft smile. From afar Rae hoped everything was going alright since lunch was coming close to the end.

"I see how you look at her, and trust me, I wouldn't want to get in between that."

The petite girl turned, heading towards the lunch table leaving Zairen in her own pool of thoughts.

Was she really that odvious? If she knew she wondered who else saw it.

Yes, she did spend most
of her time admiring the younger girls captive features that burned her brain for years but Rae never seemed to notice.

The sound of a bell forced her to jogged back to the table, throwing her unfinished food in the trash.

Not that she has and appetite for it anyway.

Soft finger brushed down her forearm as her bestfriend came into view. Her arm shivered growing goosebumps as the pearly white teeth smiled at her.

"How about we hang out after school today?"

The girl knodded back to the black haired friend.

"Yea, just meet me in the parking."
