Chapter 26

Annabelle...

I woke up with the biggest smile on my face. I just still couldn't believe it was real. I have my Niall back.

I got out of the bed and limped my way to Niall's room. It really sucked that I couldn't jump up and down excitedly like I wanted to. I opened up Niall's bedroom door, only to find it empty. Okay? I started to walk down the stairs and I heard a bang from the kitchen.

"Fuck!"

Found him. I silently laughed.

I walked into the kitchen to find a load of food on the table, and a pan on the ground along with some batter. "What are you doing?" I said quickly with a laugh, causing him to jump and knock over another pan.

"Shit, Annabelle! Don't do that!"

"Sorry, Nialler. But seriously, what are you doing?"

"Trying to make you breakfast. Trying being the operative words." He blushed.

I smiled at the thoughtfulness of his attempt. "You never were much of a cook, Niall. Obviously nothing has changed." I chuckled. "But thank you."

I helped him clean up and then finish breakfast. Cooking for myself for years has payed off. We sat down to eat and he obviously was impressed. "Woah, when did my little Annakins learn to cook so good?" I just shrugged not wanting to tell him the real reason why.

"Where's your mom? I miss Maura a lot." I said honestly. She was like a second mom to me.

"She's out for the day. Her usual Saturday errands. Which is good though, because when she sees you again, I want it to be a surprise and stuff."

"Does she know?"

"Yeah, I told her about everything and um...yeah." He said ashamed and embarrassed. I left the subject alone.

"Why don't we do something fun today? Like old times. To get our mind off things." I suggested.

"Sounds like a good idea. What do you want to do? Anything you want, it's all up to you." He leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms with a smile.

I smiled and started to run through options in my head. It's been a while since I've done something fun, especially with him. My physical condition was limiting a lot of my options, but I didn't care. I was just happy to be doing something with Niall again.

"Um...how about we...ooh! I really want to go mini golfing! I haven't done it in a while! And it's not that physical so I should be able to manage." I exclaimed, now excited with my idea.

He clapped his hands together. "It's settled then! We are going mini golfing."

We both jumped up and quickly cleaned up the kitchen. I followed him up the stairs and waited on his bed while he went and got ready in the bathroom. Once he was changed and ready, he walked in, looking very handsome if I must add. "So, do you want to stop by your house and change, then we can go?"

The smile faded off my face and I had to control the color from flushing from my face. "I, um. Well, you see...I, I forgot my key, and my Dad won't be home all day, s-so I can't get in." I stumbled over my words. He bought my lie and I was very quickly relieved.

"Alright then, you can just wear the same clothes as yesterday I guess? They still look clean." He shrugged.

I glanced over at my black high-waisted jeans and long sleeve shirt that Melanie had bought me before. "Yeah, that's fine." I squeaked out, trying not to make it obvious I didn't want to go home and ruin our plans.
