I started to study engineering and Mike was my teacher. He started at the basics then to the complicated stuff. He said I was a fast learner, the first time I heard that one. I was excited to learn more. Despite having to study the third time after the apocalypse, this time was the best. Like they say, "Third times the charm".
Learning engineering was easy enough for me but actually applying it was hard as all hell. The tools were hard to use, the electricity it uses to complete single project is so enormous I get tired from concerting energy rather than the actual work I do.
A lot has happened in my 6 months of
studying, but mostly me studying. Mike had nearly finished the
space ship, and he dubbed it "Hope". I think it was because that this ship
symbolizes our hope, that we still have it despite Zxen's state.
He planned that when the ship is
finished, he will make it a form of
public transportation. It was going to be free of charge, to those who either can't make their own or can't afford the expensive ships that the ganglords offer with their own ships just to make little extra dough. I didn't think it was gonna work, I thought that it was either gonna be stolen, or somebody might break it accidentally making it immobile for the rest of its journey.
He was a kind guy, I asked him what
made him think do it. He said it was his son and daughter, both seven years old. He said they and his wife died at the Big Bang, he said that before that they were enthusiasts when it comes to helping other people, or doing charity work. He added that they were even better person than him at a young age,
he was proud of them. I was right, he did make a good father to a loving child, in fact two of them.
I was silenced with sadness.. There was a long pause when I thought to tell him about my story, so that to make him feel that he was not alone when it comes to that kind of circumstance. He thanked me for telling him mine to console him, for the second time around. I saw that he almost cried, the first time I would ever see him do if he did. We at that time had a new understanding as friends, and as teacher and student.
