Whale, welcome to the world of Grimgar! A fantasy realm where lots of people just randomly pop up in a tower with no clue how they got there or what they were doing before. This anime starts off a little differently than that of SAO or Log Horizon where all the players know they've been transported into a game. The newcomers of Grimgar haven't a clue how they got into this fantasy realm, and it's made out to the viewer that this is completely REAL. No game gimmicks here! No being saved and welcomed back into the real life, no dying and losing only your memories--no, this is kill or be killed.
And the first episode follows our lovely gaggle of friends who try to become adventurers. Only...they're weak. pathetically weak. I mean, who can't even fight a goblin? Even I can fight a goblin in Tera: Rising! (Does that game have goblins? It's been 1000000years by now I have no idea).
Anyhowsas, the set up's pretty nice. The art style is WONDERFUL. It's a bit weird how they'll say things like "cellphone" and "game" and not have a clue as to why they're familiar with this names (BRAINWASHING ALERT), but props to building up some mystery? I dunno, it doesn't really give me the suspense that mysteries are supposed to.
Also, our fanservice girls are pretty cute, jus' sayin'.
