To see Marisa waltzing around the halls with that asshole Tyler every day was harder to bear than I thought it would be. Everywhere she went, she was arm in arm with him. I hated every second of it. But what I hated most was that he never let me have any time alone with her. I had been planning on telling her for three days now, but thanks to him I never had the chance.

"Marisa." I said, grabbing her hand, "Marisa I really need to talk to you."

She nodded at me.

"Marisa, the thing is is that I—"

"Marisa!" Tyler's voice greeted from behind me. He slung a hand over her shoulder and kissed her cheek. I glared at him through squinted eyes. Apparently, I was he only person who saw through his sweet-guy façade.

She smiled at him, but her eyes were still focused on me. He noticed this and moved her chin to face himself.

"What do you think about going out for lunch today?"

"No. I don't think so."

He seemed shocked, "Why?"

"I want to sit with K.C."

I smirked at him.

"Don't you think its time for a change? K.C. has other friends, doesn't she?"

We both shook our heads 'no'.

"Marisa, I seriously need to talk to you."

She nodded and let go of Tyler's hand, her focus completely on me.

"There's a confession I need to make—"

"So, where do you want to go for lunch? Raising Cane's? TGI Fridays?"

"Hold on a sec Tyler, K.C.'s talking to me."

"—I should warn you that what I am about to say may jeopardize our whole friendship."

"Oh, please. You're exaggerating. Nothing you could ever say would ever make me not want to be friends with you. You're too special to me."

I took a deep breath, "O-kay."

Tyler stepped between the two of us. I pushed him away, and his beautiful girlfriend gave him a look of confusion before turning back to me.

"I'm just going to come out and say it. Marisa? I love you."

"That's what you were going to say to me? I love you too sweetie. But I don't get what the whole build-up was—"

"Marisa, you don't get it!" I shouted, "I'm in love with you."

All heads turned to face me as I yelled that last part. Tyler smirked at me and dragged Marisa away, who seemed frozen at the spot. Her eyes followed me as she turned a corner. I waved goodbye to her, hoping to receive some sort of response from her. But, to no avail.

I wiped a fresh tear from my face and sniffled. I had finally done it. I had told Marisa I was in love with her. We officially had no secrets between us.

But was it worth it?

I ran away and cried into my hands, ignoring all the shocked faces I passed. I leaned against the wall, the scene re-playing in my head in an endless loop. But as I thought harder I had realized something. After I told her, a smile had flickered across her face for a mere second.

No. That couldn't possibly be true.

I shook my head to clear the preposterous thought. She had Tyler now and therefore could never be interested in me.

But still...

A/N: I know this chapter is short. I just had trouble writing this. So sorry, you guys. The next two chapters will be longer, I swear.
