Nanomadia

I arrived at Nano and Lalna's big house. I looked at the spikes, wondering if they wanted visitors. I had told Nano I was coming, so it should be okay.

I knocked on the door and looked inside to see a figure coming towards the door. I really hoped it wasn't Lalna. I didn't want him to see me or for him to be here at all, in fact. I backed away from the door to not seem to eager.

Nano opened the door. Thank you. "Hey, Lomadia," she said as she saw me. "How are you?"

"I'm good. It's been a long time since I've seen you though. Your house has changed completely," I say looking at her house.

"Yeah. Come inside and I'll show you around."

We walk around her house as she gives me information about each room. It was a nice house with some room to spare and two floors. I notice that I haven't seen Lalna in the house, but maybe he's outside? I hope he's working on some machines somewhere.

"Would you like to walk around the yard," she says. "Maybe drink some coffee?"

"That sounds lovely!"

We were walking around the garden with our coffees when she stopped at a bench in front of a big tree. "This is my favourite place to hang out."

"It is nice. There's a nice view as well."

"You think it's nice here?"

"Yeah," I'm slightly confused as to why she said that.

"Do you want to see something cool?"

"Of course!"

"Have you finished your coffee?"

"Not quite."

"Well then, finish up. We can't go till you finish."

I sit down on the bench to finish my coffee. When I finish, she tells me to place down the cup and get going.

"Which way are we going," I ask.

"Up."

She climbs up the tree with such gracefulness and swiftness, that I feel like an absolute noob at climbing trees.

I start following her once she gets to a big branch. She squats on the branch and starts watching me. Great.

"Don't worry. I only make it look easy because I've done it so many times. Maybe every day?"

"I'll be up eventually."

"I can wait."

I start climbing the tree with suggestions from Nano. I start to get the hang of it and forget that I'm high up. I look at Kim, waiting for the next instruction. "Put your left foot in that little groove, then swing your right leg onto this branch."

As I try to bring my right leg onto the branch, I realize I'm not quite flexible enough. "Nano, we may have a slight dilemma,"

"Can you do a muscle up?"

"I don't think so?"

"How about this: I grab one of your arms and you push with your legs and your other arm."

"Okay. We can try."

I give her my right hand and then put my left on the branch above me. I get my feet in to place. I push up and she pulls. I get on the branch as she starts to fall from the momentum. I reach out and put my arm under her back to stop her from falling.

"Thanks," she says, catching her breath, "I almost fell of and died."

"Yeah... I wouldn't want that to happen."

"We're not at the top, but you can still see from here." She gestures her arm around, showing me the surroundings. Even though there were some leaves in the way, I could see for miles. In the distance I could see the forest, the ocean, the savanna and the fields.

"Wow." I say in complete awe.

"I know right!"

"This is remarkable."

"Almost as remarkable as the expression on your face!"

"What?"

"I didn't know that one could be in such awe."

"Oh," I continue to look around until I feel something touch my hand. I glance down and realize it's Nano. I don't pull away because I've always felt something for her, even if I was to afraid to tell her. I was afraid of being rejected or even worse, losing our friendship.

"Can I tell you something?" Nano asks.

I turn to her. "Of course."

"I've always had feelings for you."

"Me too." She slowly leans forward and kisses me. It doesn't last long, but I've finally learnt that we can be together. Be more than friends.

We hug each other before climbing down the tree.

I was about to leave when she stops me.

"I hope you don't mind about me kissing you."

"No. I enjoyed it."

"Do you maybe want to together sometime?"

"I would enjoy that a lot!"

"Okay!" She leans in and kisses me on the cheek before I leave. I smile and wave goodbye. I feel so excited and happy that I'm almost skipping.
