Quarter Quell - Fourteen

My hair is now out of its braid drying, i sit in Cato's lap with my head in the crook of his neck listening.

"So besides Brutus and Enobaria, who's left?" Katniss asks

"Maybe Chaff just those three" Peeta replied

"they know they're outnumbered i doubt they'll attack again. We're safe on the beach" Finnick adds

"so what do we do hunt them down?" Jo wondered there was a scream

"ah Katniss help me" i looked up

"Lacey! Lacey Help!!" i shot up

"Daddy!" i run into the jungle hearing my Dad's screams

"Daddy!" Katniss and i run though the jungle like hell and come to a stop where its the loudest. We see jaberjays up above screaming. i grab one of my knifes and shot one as does Katniss.

"Katniss! Lacey!" we look at Finnick. "are you okay" before we can reply there's another scream and it affects Finnick

"Finnick! it's not real"

"Annie" he runs off and we chase him telling him its not real

"Finnick it's not her just Jabberjays Annie's safe"

"how do you think that sound, Jabberjay's copy"

"Katniss" "Lacey"

"Gale" "Burton?" were then surrounded by jabberjays who start screaming

"come on" we run back for the beach as screaming follows us different voices calling out for help. i see Cato and run faster but smash into something we're trapped

"Cato! help. Help me" i scream he hits his hand against trying to tell me something. the screaming is too much and i couch to the ground.

"it's not real, it's not real, it's not real" i chant over and over again

"Lacey, it's over your alright it's over"

"Daddy!" i cry looking up

"he's fine he's safe they won't hurt him" i start crying

"your fiancée and husband are right, they won't touch your family they love her. They'd did anything there would be a riot in the damn Capitol" she then looked up.

"Hey how does that sound Snow. What if we...what if we set your backyard on fire? You know, you can't put everybody in here" we all look at her.

"what? they can't hurt me, there's no one left i love." she shrugs then sighs.

"I'll get you some water." she walks off and I'm lifted up into Cato's arms. we are back on the beach and i start singing to my self

I come out of my room smiling at JJ who looks solemn as she hands me a note and we walk to get ready. i read it.

Lacey

we need you to be eyes in the games, the rebellion will know when to start causing trouble by your signal. When you feel the time is right start singing the song you made for Cato.

"Still beautiful" Cato whispers in my ear. i turn to him and smile a little before kissing him.

"Finnick! Lacey! Cato!" we look at Johanna who gestures for us to come over. We do so and kneel down as we begin talking.

"where do the careers feel safest? the jungle?" we shook our heads

"the jungles a nightmare" Cato states.

"proberly here on the beach" Peeta and I add.

"then why aren't they here?"

"because we've claimed it" Johann replies

"and if we left, they would come" he confirms

"or stay hidden in the tree line" Finnick continues

"which in just over four hours will be soaked from the 10:00 wave. And what happens at midnight?"

"lighting strikes that tree." Katniss answers

"here's what i propose. We leave the beach at dusk, we head to the lighting tree that should draw them back t the beach. Prior to midnight we run this wire from the tree to the water. Anyone in the water or in the damp sand will be electrocuted." he touched the damp sand

"how do we know the wire won't burn up" i wonder

"because i invented it. I assure you it won't burn up" Cato, Finnick, Johanna and i share a look

"well it's better than hunting them down" Cato sighs

"yeah why not" Katniss agrees "if it fails there's no harm done right"

"i say we try it" Peeta agrees

"so what can we do to help" Finnick asks

"keep me alive for the next six hours that would be extremely helpful" we spread out
