"Hey there, the name's June. June Alastar. Yeah. No need to say it. I already know what you're thinking. 'What the heck kind of last name is Alastar?!' I didn't make it up or anything like that. My grandparents are Irish, & even though I don't much look it, that where it comes from. But you don't really have to worry about that. Just call me June!

And believe it or not. The name's not the most unusual thing about me. You see, ever since I was little I've been able to... well, see things. Like green floating cats with one eye, books with faces on them, & so much weird things for me to see... Great. But it's not that bad I guess. I mean, over the yrs. I've learn to cope with it pretty well. Though sometimes it's unavoidable. And I would be lying of I said it wasn't a huge pain in the butt.

Despite the occasional incident, I had never had too much trouble because of my... ummm "ability". Well, that is however, until recently. You see, it all started going down hill after my grandma passed away. You could say that I was really close to her, she was like a best friend to me. My grandma was everything to me, a shoulder to cry on, someone to talk to, amazing cook, & has always been there to protect me. When I was 5 yrs. old she given me a old ring that was passed down for generations. I'm still wearing it, I haven't taken it off ever since.

It's hard to move on when someone you love the most is gone from your life forever.

Anyway in my grandma's will she left me this weird old book that I had never seen before. And honestly, I don't know why she didn't let me see it. We never keep secrets from each other, I've always told her mine, & she'll tell her's. So why haven't she told me about this book?

I know that it sounds childish, but things have only gotten worse ever since grandma's funeral last winter. So even as guilty as it makes me feel, I've kept it shoved on top of my book case. However, recently I've been getting hit with these sudden urges of curiosity. Like if I don't just look already, something bad might happen. So honestly, I don't know how much longer I'll be able to hold out? But I can wait until the moment is right for me to open it up."

June was in her bedroom while passing the time reading a book. It's the first day of summer for her, & it was REALLY hot outside so she decided to chill in her room where it's nice & cool. "June? Can you come down here for a second? We're about to leave?!" June's dad yelled from downstairs.

"Okay, dad!" She yelled back. She set her book on her bed, & walked down the steps where her parents as well as her 2 sisters were just getting ready to leave. June's parents were going on a trip to Rome for their anniversary, while her 2 sisters were going to summer camp for the whole summer so June was staying at her house alone for a month. She's 17 already so she was capable to stay at home for a month all by herself.

June's mom gave her a hug, & said her good-byes, next was her older sister who gave her some money in case she wanted to go out to eat with her friends, thirdly her youngest hugged her, & said that she'll miss her, lastly her dad.

"Now here's mom's & my phone number in case you're lonely, here's some money for buying food ONLY, & in case of any emerges call the police or Phill, okay?"

"Okay, dad. I'll be okay." June said smiling. Her dad gave her a quick kiss on top of her head, & everyone headed out the door. June looked outside from the window, her dad started the car, June waved good-bye, & the car drove off. June was finally alone, so she decided to head back into her room, & read some more.
