Gale POV
The sky was dark and the moon shone like a pearl on the sand. I looked at the door of her house, the golden doorknob twisted into a handle that your fingers could easily slip through. I grabbed the knob and opened the door silently. I shut just as quietly and headed upstairs, to Katniss' room. I found her sitting on her bed, staring out the window into the milky twilight. She turned her head as I entered and smiled at me. I sat down on the bed next to her.
"Hi," she smiled.
"Hey,"
"So...,"
"Um, yeah,"
Katniss smiled a sad smile at me.
"What's up?" I said wrapping my arm around her.
"Rue." Her eyes filled with tears.
"I'm so sorry,"
She sighed. "It's fine." She bit her lip and pulled away from me.
"Katniss, I have something to tell you that might cheer you up."
"Umm...What?"
I knelt down to the ground. "Will you marry me?"
Silence.
"Katniss?"
"Get out," The voice that came out of her mouth was mean and unforgiving. "Get OUT!!!!"
"Why?"
"You know why. I love Peeta and YOU KILLED PRIM!!!!" She collapsed on the floor in tears screaming at me to get out. So I did. I ran the only place I would be safe.
