<back to Heather's POV>

My life in four words: Boys can be gits
Of course, when Fred accused me of saying yes to the ferret, I didn't call him a git. I called him a bitch.
I ran to the bathroom this time. Hopefully Myrtle wasn't here.
Thankfully, she wasn't.
I think I cried for hours. I'm pretty sure it was way past hours when someone finally found me. It was Mione this time.
"Dear Merlin, Heather. Fred is worried sick about you." Those were the first words I heard in what seemed like days.
"Yeah, well Fred can go fuck himself."
Mione was shocked. She apparently couldn't find the words to say.
"What, Fred didn't tell you about how he was an arse and thought I said yes when Malfoy asked me out?"
Mione paled. "Yes, well. Boys can be arses. I know from experience. But you need to face him eventually. Now come on."
I reluctantly followed her to the Gryffindor tower. I wish I had the invisibility cloak, though. Fred was in the common room, of course. He was white as a ghost.
I tried to get past without being seen by him, but no such luck.
"H!" He yelled to me. I wouldn't even look him in the eyes.
"H, I'm so sorry- "
"Sorry?" I was furious. "You're sorry?"
"Heather," Hermione warned.
I gaped at her. "Mione, really? You're going to give me a lecture now of all times?"
"No, but you cant- "
"Can't what? Be mad at my boyfriend? Like your would understand! You've never even dated anyone, so stop being a know-it-all for once! Don't 'cant' me, I can write a long list of things Hermione Granger 'can't'. " I immediately regretted my choice of words, and I slapped my hand over my mouth to stop myself from saying anymore.
I could see she was on the verge of tears.
"Excuse me," I say, and run up to the girls dorms. I rush into the 4th year dorm and slam the door.
"Eek! What was that for, Heather?" I look around to see who said that. It was Lavander.
Whoops. Forgot I had roommates.
"Nothing."
"Didn't seem like nothing," said a redhead girl I didn't know.
"Shut up. Just shut up."
"Geez, okay."
The rest of the night, I lay awake, not able to fall asleep. My head is full of guilt, for ignoring Fred and being mean to Mione.
I didn't fall asleep, so I cried the night away.
~*~*~
Fortunately, today was Saturday.
Fortunately, we got to go to Hogsmead.
Unfortunately, Fred has asked me to go. And I said yes.
Unfortunately, I still haven't talked to him.

Welp. I'm screwed.

I walked down to the common room, and Mione was there.
"Mione, I- " I choked back a sob. "I'm so sorry."
Mione looked at me and smiled. "It's okay. Dear Merlin, Heather. You look awful. Like you've- "
"Been up crying all night?" I offered. She nodded. "I have been." I tear runs down my cheek.
Mione walls over to me and hugs me and she holds me while I cry. "Oh my God, Mione. What did I do? I messed up, didn't I?" She doesn't say anything.
I go and sit down on the couch. Sooner or later Fred would come down. I just didn't know what I'd say to him.

~ Le time skip~

Fred came downstairs. Let me tell you: He. Looked. Terrified.
And he had every right to be.
Before he even made it all the way down, I started lecturing him.
"What the hell, Fred? What were you thinking? I don't like Malfoy!"
He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Yeah, I, uh..."
"You know what? Save it. I think we could use some time away from each other. I mean, honestly. We've only been together for what, a week? And we've already gotten into a fight. If this is how it's going to be, i think we should put this on hold until we're both mature enough to take it seriously."
Fred didn't respond. Instead, he just walked back upstairs.
I turned to Mione. She smiled sadly at me.
My voice was a quiet whisper. "I messed up, didn't I?"

Since Fred isn't going with me, I went alone.
After a while, Harry ran up to me.
"Heather, there's someone we want you to meet!" Harry exclaimed excitedly.
"Okay, meet us here, at 1:30."
"Okie dokie, Harry." I grin.
I walked around for the next hour and 20 minutes, then headed back to our meeting place. Turns out, I was early.
After a minute, Harry, Mione, and Ron came over.
"Hey, Heather." They greeted me. I smiled at them
We made our way out toward the edge of the village.
There were fewer cottages here, and the gardens were bigger. We were walking toward the foot of the mountain in whose shadow Hogsmeade lay.
We came across a black dog, who barked happily.
"Hello, Sirius." Harry said.
"Woah, woah woah. You wanted me to meet a dog?" I asked, unbelieving.
He merely grinned. "Great." I mumble under my breath.
The dog- Sirius- trotted toward the mountain.
Sirius led us to the very foot of the mountain, where the ground was covered with boulders and rocks. It was easy for him, with his four paws, but we were soon out of breath. We followed Sirius higher, up onto the mountain itself. For nearly half an hour we climbed a steep, winding, and stony path, following Sirius's wagging tail.
Then, at last, Sirius slipped out of sight, and when we reached the place where he had vanished, we saw a narrow opening in the rock. We squeezed through it and found ourselves in a cool, dimly lit cave. At the end of it, one end of his rope around a large rock, a half horse, half giant bird thingy. Harry, Ron, and Mione bowed low to him, and after regarding them imperiously for a moment, Buckbeak bent his scaly front knees and allowed Hermione to rush forward and stroke his feathery neck. Harry, however, was looking at the black dog, which had just turned into a person.
Wait, what? SIRIUS THE DOG-HUMAN???? THERE'S WERE-DOGS NOW?!?!?!
The man was wearing ragged gray robes. His black hair was long, and it was untidy and matted once more. He looked very thin.
"Chicken!" he said hoarsely after removing the old Daily Prophets from his mouth and throwing them down onto the cave floor.
Harry pulled open his bag and handed over the bundle of chicken legs and bread.
"Thanks," said Sirius, opening it, grabbing a drumstick, sitting down on the cave floor, and tearing off a large chunk with his teeth. "I've been living off rats mostly. Can't steal too much food from Hogsmeade; I'd draw attention to myself."
He grinned up at Harry, but Harry returned the grin only reluctantly. "What're you doing here, Sirius?" he said.
"Fulfilling my duty as godfather," said Sirius, gnawing on the chicken bone in a very doglike way. "Don't worry about it, I'm pretending to be a lovable stray."
He was still grinning, but seeing the anxiety in Harrys face, said more seriously, "I want to be on the spot. Your last letter . . . well, let's just say things are getting fishier. I've been stealing the paper every time someone throws one out, and by the looks of things, I'm not the only one who's getting worried."
He nodded at the yellowing Daily Prophets on the cave floor, and Ron picked them up and unfolded them. Harry, however, continued to stare at Sirius.
"What if they catch you? What if you're seen?"
"You three and Dumbledore are the only ones around here who know I'm an Animagus," said Sirius, shrugging, and continuing to devour the chicken leg.
"Now, where's the girl?" He asked.
"Right here." My voice was high-pitched and squeaky.
"Ah, you must be Heather. I'm Sirius, Harry's godfather." He stated, still chomping on his chicken. "I was a rather good friend of your parents, actually."
"Are- are you my godfather, also?" I asked.
"Dear Merlin, no. Remus is. He's quite a nice guy. You'll like him."
"Oh, cool, I guess. What's your bird thingy?"
He chuckled. "My hippogriff, Buckbeak. Helps me stay away from anyone that wants me back in Azkaban." Seeing my confused face, he adds, "wizards jail."
Notes so far:
Sirius is a weredog.
Sirius is Harrys godfather.
Sirius is not my godfather, Remus is.
Sirius was my parents friend.
Sirius has a pet Hippogriff.
Hippogriff are half horse half bird.
Why is it names Buckbeak?
Sirius is a criminal.

Wow. Okie then, I won't ask about criminal crap.
I walk up to Buckbeak.
"Heather, that's not a good- "
Too late, I think. I walk right up to it and stroke it's head. It didn't protest.
"Heather, how are you doing that?" Mione asked, wide-eyed.
I shrugged, still petting the freakishly terrifying yet adorable thing. It was really loving me.
Sirius cleared his throat. "So, I've been reading the papers. First one I saw bout you, didn't believe it."
"You still have the first one?" He hands it to me.
It read:
Heather Potter, the Girl who Lived
Heather Potter is Harry Potter's twin sister. She was proclaimed dead after the attack by He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, but the infant's body was never found. Turns out, she was alive. She's been living with her aunt and uncle, in the same house as Harry. Did Harry know about her and not say anything? Why? She will be starting her fourth year in-
I couldn't read any more. Want to know why? It was written by Rita Skeeter.
I can't wait to get hold of her. She'll wish she's never been born.

"Sirius?"
"Hm?"
"Are you a weredog?"
