Five days.

It had been five days since the lockdown.

Since the cordon.

Since the outbreak.

During the five days Jake and I had seemed to meet a mutual friendship and everything around us seemed to fall into place. Everything with him felt natural, as if it was always met to be. Even during a time like this - being locked in a cordon - he can make me laugh. As well as Katie, though we've been locked in this hospital for some time and I've found that I barely speak maybe a full sentence to her as to where me and Jake can't seem to stop talking.

I was walking into the old wing which had become everyone's home when I heard Jake and Quentin talking. I nearly busted out laughing as Quentin asks Jake about girls, but I kept my cool and tried to stay behind the line of view.

"A girl? No why, do - do you?" Jake asked the young boy. I smiled as I pushed myself into the room but sill I was leaning against the door frame.

"No." Quentin said. Jake smiled.

"yeah, you're right. Girls are gross." Jake caught my eyes when he said that. I fake gasp and place my hand over my heart.

"Says the man who hasn't showered in nearly a month." I retort. Jake chuckles while moving his eyes from the tiny boy to me.

"A week actually. See Quentin, girls aren't smart either."

"Nice. Way to be a role model." Katie's voice spoke behind as she came into view.

"Hey, this is guy talk. You guys aren't supposed to be listening." Jake lofts a brow toward me and Katie. I smile at him and raise my own brows as a snarky remark leaves my lips.

"Mhm . .  but you did just call us guys."

Jake smirks as he stands to his feet. He opens his mouth - probably to retort something back to me but is stopped by Katie's voice talking to Quentin. "Where'd you get that hat?"

Jake turns around. "Oh, I grabbed it for him out of the old lost and found. Looks good right? Did you, uh, did you get what you need?"

I look over at Katie as Jake asks that question. I was curious on what she was needing, I mean I was a doctor and if she needed something medical wise I might be able to supply her.

"The pharmacy is closed, guess I'll have to live without toothpaste." She smiles.

Jake at Quentin. "You see, girls are gross."

The room fills with light laughter. I was  actually enjoying our little banter, But our fun was soon gone when Cannerts came inside the room calling out my name. I turned on my heel to face him.
