"Maia how are you feeling?" Cannerts asks me, I look up at him with a dry smile. How was I doing?

"I'm fine." I wasn't. He knew I wasn't and that's why he was keeping his distance from me. I wasn't supposed to be in the room he was, the blood was meant for him. Not me and I can't stop replying what happened in my head. Why Maia, why?

Why did I jump in front of Cannerts to stop the blood?

I was getting out. I was getting Jake. I had everything I needed and now suddenly, just like that. Like I snapped my fingers, it's gone.

I'm gone.

"Maia I — I appreciate what you did for me."

"I didn't do it for you." I finally understood, "I did it for Jake, for Quentin. You're our only hope in this if you die, they die."

"How are you feeling?" Jake asks as he stand just outside the glass. I give him a smile trying to ensure him that I am fine. That this is only a fluke and nothing is going to happen, but that's only a dream. The reality of it is I am sick.

"I'm fine Mr. Riley."

"I got Quentin out. They should be on the other side soon."

"That's goo—" I was cut short but this guy hurling cough, that ranges up my body burning the back of my throat. My hand flys up to my mouth and it's now that I feel the sticky wetness on my palm. Blood. I don't have to look at Jake to know the scared look that possesses him. My face felt hot and tears glistening in my eyes, I only had a numbered amount of time before this was over. My whole life. Everything I've done is going to be over in twenty four hours.
