My first thoughts were one's of disbelief, the fact that she would actually, go and do that, and with whom? Though I knew that we would make it through the rough patch we both seemed to be having and In the end we will have a bundle of joy by our side. No matter what, I would never hate her, we were sisters. For that moment, I forgot about the present and looked to the future. I felt light and carefree for the first time in days. We sat, huddled together, in a peaceful silence, lost in our own thoughts. I was happy for Bria, I knew she would make a great mother, but would the father want to play a part in his child's life? "Hope" Bria's voice radiated fear "I'm scared" she said the last part so quietly I could almost not hear her.
"B?... Bria?... look at me B" I grabbed her face and forced her blueish-grey eyes to look at me "everything will be alright B, I promise you, just wait and see!". A tear slid down her face. A tear of happiness. Her eyes glistened with hope as she rubbed her stomach, a small smile on her face. "Does your mum know?" I asked
"Yes... I told her yesterday, when she was asking about why I was in hospital. Did you know I'm 1 month into the pregnancy?" She giggled. I gasped, 1 month already? I guess that would explain her strange eating habits. Last week she ate a ham and jam sandwich. YUK!. We gossiped and laughed late into the night, spending some much needed girly time together...
The hooded figure held a knife to Bria's throat. Bria was showing, possibly 8 or so months pregnant but she hid it with a long ruffled white shirt. Her usually neat ringlets was a messy curtain hiding her face from view. The figure cackled deeply as it forced the blade into her throat. It was only a small cut, but it drew blood. It's vivid green eyes met mine and it shot me a look as if it was saying 'what are you going to do about it?'. I ran forward only to be stopped by an invisible wall. A blood curdling scream filled my ears as the knife went deeper.
The scene faded and was replace with a blonde haired girl, in her early twenties laying flowers on a un-named grave. She stood up brushing away tears. Whoever had died clearly meant alot to her. She called to her two children who were playing a small distance away. The woman walked away hand in hand with her tiny children. She didn't look back, it was like it hurt her too much to do so...
The first thing I noticed when I woke up was Bria curled up, hugging her stomach. Her blonde ringlets covered her face. She looked so vulnerable at that moment I swore then and there that I would do what ever it took to protect her and her baby, even if it meant losing my own life.
Bria stretched, yawning. "Hey hun" she greeted.
"Hey, how are you feeling? I smiled at her.
"Much better, I guess we need to get up now, unless you want to skip school today" she raised her eyebrow suggestively.
"Yeah, I mean... they can't expect us to go into school in our state, can they" I stated seriously
"So, shall we skip today? We can go out shopping today instead" She suggested
"Sounds like a plan" I yawned
"Didn't sleep well?" Bria asked concerned
"No ever since the accident I've been feeling... weaker, if that makes sense." I told her.
She nodded "Well I'm going for a shower" she said as she exited the room. After we had both showered, dressed and Gina had forced some me to take some medicine that the doctor gave to me, we decided to go to the mall. The mall a humongous glass building with a gold setting that shimmered in the sun. Me and Bria loved this place - or more specifically the milkshake shop which sells delicious white chocolate and raspberry milkshakes. It was almost the first thing that we ever did. Whenever we entered the mall we made a bee line towards the pink and white stripes of Bonnie's Milkshakes. It was the best place to just talk. We even had our own table by the window. It had a great view of the mall's garden.
"Can I ask you something?" Bria asked pulling me out of my thoughts.
"You just did" I laughed, a small smile playing on her face.
"I overheard Scott talking about you." I rolled my eyes at that "He said that you broke up with him, is that true?" so I told her the whole story about why I crashed. I 'conveniently' missed out the bit about me being a witch though. She wasn't ready for that, yet. "Wow... thanks for telling me" she whispered
"You needed to know, so tell me boy or girl?" I sipped my drink slowly.
"I didn't want to know... I want it to be a surprise" She had a large toothy grin on her face when she said it.
"So your gonna need both a boys and a girls name then?" I asked, she nodded as a reply "How about Dylan and Chelsea?"
"Maybe, or Haliee and Lawrence?" she suggests
"I like Hailee but I still think Dylan" I slurp the rest of my drink.
"It may not even be a boy" she smiles as she finishes up her drink. "Anyway, we need an outfit, we got a invitation to a party" She pulls me out of my chair and into the nearest Mini Inspire shop. Mini Inspire is often very busy because it sells alot of high quality products, but today it was oddly quite with only a few people around. Mainly due to the fact many of its customers are at school. Bria dragged me straight towards the dress section. We spent ages just looking through the many racks until Bria piped up "Ah ha, I just found you the perfect dress" She held up a little purple item. I raised my eyebrows at her choice. "Awww come on Hope, you'll look great" she pleaded, I sighed.
"Fine" I snatched the dress and wandered over to the changing room. After changing, I looked in the mirror. The dress came up to my mid thigh and had ruffles. It was ugly. I quickly changed back and stormed over to Bria. "it's horrible B"
She rolled her eyes "Hope... please, you'll look beautiful in it... not that your not beautiful already. It'll make Scott jealous" she persuaded
"B! I don't care what Scott thinks anymore. I just want a decent dress, not this monstrosity" I told her sternly. She nodded and proceeded searching the rack in front of her. We searched in silence for about 5 minutes, until I found a gorgeous baby blue dress. I tapped Bria on the shoulder and pointed towards the changing rooms. She nodded and held up a green dress. We headed into different stalls. I stripped and pulled the soft material over my head. Smiling I checked myself in the mirror. The dress came up to my mid thigh and had a dark blue sash with a bow tied on the side. Walking out I saw Bria. She was wearing a knee length emerald green dress. It was strapless and layered.
"WOW" she squealed "You look... hot" She ran and hugged me, earning strange looks from the few people in the shop.
"So do you" I giggled hugging her back. "Where to next, Apple Pie?"
"hmmm, well we don't really need shoes" she looked thoughtful "I mean we have at least 50 pairs between us. What's the time?"
"Ummm, half 1" I said peering at my wrist bracelet attachment.
"Right... home i guess. The carnival is around tomorrow, we could skip school again." she suggested
"Sounds fun" I hooked my arm through hers. We skipped out of the mall together after paying for our new outfits.
