Night slowly arrived bringing terrors with it. Bringing more dreams about the hooded figure and more dreams of the grieving female. I woke up sometime around 2 in the morning thinking that the figure hid in the shadows. I was scared. I wanted morning to come, to release me from my personal nightmare. I thought I kept seeing something move in the corner of the room. I stared at where I thought I saw movement, but everything was still. I kept squinting through the darkness to look at the clock. I sat for hours watching the hands slowly move from the 2 to the 4. Bria often sighed in her sleep letting me know that she was alright. Suddenly I saw something move out of the corner of my eye. There was definitely movement. I wanted to be able to see, yet something stopped me from turning the light on instead I felt some tingle sensation in my fingertips. I felt power flow through my mind. Light filled the room, just in time to see a hazy figure jump out of the window. Bria stirred and my world went dark
I woke up to see Bria hovering over me. "You alright?" worry filled her eyes
"Hey, don't worry about me B" I smiled, touched by her concern.
"Clearly, your not okay... you want to skip the carnival?" She asked feeling my forehead.
" I want to go to the carnival" I protested
"Your ill Hope... maybe I should get mum to call the doctor..." she looked at the door
"B! I'm fine" I protested, sitting up
"No your not... I woke up and you fainted, you have been out for 5 hours" She said firmly pushing me back.
"B... please..."
"No Hope" she quickly cut in before I had a chance to finish my sentence.
"Fine..." I sighed, she smirked as she left the room. That girl can be so infuriating and her pregnancy didn't help. I should be touched by her concern but it annoyed me, all I did was faint. I guess I couldn't blame her though...
Gina came in and forced me to drink some bright pink gloop, then tried to reassure me with the old "Don't worry, she'll come to her senses" line. I laughed at that, Bria is as stubborn as a mule then again Gina is always right.
"Hope" A quite voice from the doorway said. "I'm sorry" Bria stepped into the room. Gina patted her on the back and made a swift exit. "You know that I care about you... yeah?" I nodded "So... um... no matter how much you plead , beg or try to persuade me, we are NOT going to the carnival" She smirked at me.
"Fine" i smirked back "I'll just go on my own" I got up and started to prepare for the day.
"Hope..." she begged. I just ignored her.
"I'm leaving in 15, you coming or not?" I told her
"Fine" she sighed, she knowing she would never win against me...
Half an hour later, we sat in Bria's car, daring each other to get out of the car and into the pouring rain. The sun is hiding behind the ominous grey clouds that is chucking water down at a rapid rate. We sat arguing about who would leave the car first, when I decided to make a run for it, getting drenched within seconds of leaving the car. I felt Bria push me through the entrance, to make it the safety of the large violet tent that housed the carnival.
"Oi Move it" a whiny voice said in my ear. The voice that haunted my school days. It wasn't Bria it was Twyla. She stood smirking at me practically glued onto Scott's arm.
"Twyla, why don't you go buy us some candy-floss, here's the money" Scott subtly hinted.
"Fine..." she huffed and stormed off in a random direction.
"Um hey, you alright?" he politely asked
"Yeah, I guess" I tried looking behind him to see if Bria was coming.
"We need to talk" he said adverting his gaze
"What's there to talk about? We broke up. Simple." I squinted at the entrance as a constant stream of people left and entered the tent.
"No Hope, I never loved you" He practically shouted. He what... I felt the tears form in the corners of my eyes, I blinked them back. "All of it was a trick... a bet" he explained slowly.
"W...What?" I stuttered out
He sighed "Aaron and me made a bet. If I could get you to fall in love with me and then I dropped you, I win."
"Why?" I glared at him. The lieing, cheating pineapple chunk.
"Money, reputation, the usual" He calmly explained.
"Your just like your brother, a lieing, stinking player. I never thought I would say this but Twyla does not deserve you" I stormed off not caring about the rain that pelted down onto me. I stomped to the car, not caring about anyone that got in my way.
"Whoa what's up?" Bria asked when I had flung myself into the car.
"Scott. Why didn't you follow me?" I told her, trying not to scream in her face. Her eyes went wide and her mouth formed a perfect circle. "It was all a bet, our entire relationship was a scam"
"I'm... I'm sorry" she whispered
"Don't worry it wasn't your fault. It was Scott and Aaron" I stared out the window so I couldn't see her reaction. I just heard her mutter Aaron's name as she drove home.
