She had your heart inside a locket
Held tightly and closed shut
For years she held onto it
Because you, she could not touch.
The days had grown with silence
Unbearable to hear
A coward, you called yourself
For promising forever when not sincere.
Though yet, I sit
And wait patiently for you
Through hours of modest smiles
Wishing one day it would come true.
But she holds that tiny locket
Never misplacing the key
Knowing one day you may break it
And finally be set free.
