(WHAT-IF) Solid Snake Joins Team Rainbow?

Shadow Moses Island--home to the worst weather conditions known to man however, one man is entering the nuclear disposal facility for the third time in his career as a stealth operative. There's just one difference this time that he didn't have to deal with the previous times, this time he was entering a building that was near collapsing and he had to do it without any power to the building nor did he have his comrade Otacon for support. As he entered the facility using the underground portion used for deliveries he contacted Six saying to her "this is Snake, I'm inside the facility.." she retorted with a line he'd heard numerous times in his career "Excellent Snake. Age hasn't slowed you down one bit." Snake began to remove his dive equipment and mask in order to get both his bearings and also so he could wipe the cold water from his face. As he was doing this he then heard his codec chiming in his ear, he knew this was the greatest tool for infiltration. Only he could hear the codec going off due to it being near the small bones in his ear. On the other end of the codec was none other than Ela Bosak, the same green haired woman who he had saved during their Oregon operation. She could see his face as could he and she said to him "Snake where'd you go? I thought we could hang out tonight maybe watch a movie together?" He then replied "Sorry Ela I got pulled into a mission in Alaska at a facility that I've been to numerous times in my career. Maybe after this mission we can do that." She puffed her cheeks slightly and crossed her arms, she then said to him "Fair enough....hey one other thing!" He looked a bit confused at to what she meant but he kept his cool and asked "What's up?" She then looked around and said after seeing no one nearby "Maybe we could do what we did the other night? How do you feel about that?" Snake smirked and said to her "If that's what you want then by all means, just know that this Snake will tempt you.." Ela blushed and gave him an air kiss before she signed off.

Snake had walked towards the elevator and punched the button to ground level near the helipad, as the elevator went up he began to go over his equipment. For his primary he had asked for a rifle something like what Jackal or what Buck had however he wanted both a suppressor and a red dot. The weapon he was given was the C7E that is used by Jackal as for his pistol he had his MK23 with the LAM unit and an osprey styled suppressor to make the weapon streamline and allowed him to use his sights. As for his uniform he was wearing his uniform from his first mission here along with the Solid Eye.

The elevator stopped at ground level and Snake grabbed his rifle and activated the solid eye in order to begin his assessment of the area. As he did this he then heard a noise from the building however it wasn't a person or object instead it was the fact of the holes from when Rex went against Ray during the Metal Gear battle. Snake sighed and said "this building might have another month in it or another minute, I'd best ask for options from Six maybe she'll have something for me." As he went to input her frequency she called him first and said to him "Snake, we've asked the crew here that's helping us with repairs about the structural integrity and they think you may have an hour or so before the whole building goes down." Snake then said "alright I'll see what I can do." He turned off the codex and went inside he didn't see anything but a bunch of parts from the dwarf gekko that he had destroyed when he came here a while back. As he was walking through the tank storage he remembered all of his moments from sneaking in all the way to fighting his brother Liquid on his first visit. He smiled to himself and said "Let's do this." He began to walk through the building and he could feel the air getting colder due to the fact that most of the doors were frozen open while also being locked open from the previous times Snake was there. As he was walking through the blast door he then heard voices above his head, he ducked behind a column and listened as well as he could to what was being said. What he could hear was "Is everything ready for the boss?" another voice then said "Yes sir, everything is going according to plan. We should be ready within the hour." The voices then began to walk away from Snake however he then remembered he asked Valkyrie for one of her cameras for his mission. He looked to see where they had gone to so that he could throw the camera near them so that Six could have someone analyze and hear what they were talking about. The camera landed on a beam facing the enemies and Snake began the process to send the feed to Six he then said to her "Cam in position Six try to find out what they're talking about for me while I sneak through here and find out why I'm here." Six acknowledged him and called for Valkyrie and Ela so that they could get the info from the enemies. Snake then sneaked out of the first building and went on to the next however he had memories of fighting Raven in a tank while Snake only had grenades, he somehow managed to defeat Raven that time with said grenades and said quietly to himself "Raven...That was one hell of a fight and scrape." He had made into the second building and noticed something new at the end of the hallway, he hid behind another steel column and saw a new camera that was installed by the terrorists that were there. Snake then said "Six I have a small problem here, there's a new camera here. It looks like the enemy installed this one got any files on this for me? Or are you gonna hide it from me like my Colonel did to me the first time I was here?" Six scoffed slightly and said "No Snake I won't do that, but you should know that finding info on these guys is a bit tricky we can try but please be patient with us okay?" Snake nodded and thought of a way to sneak by this camera, he then snapped his fingers and decided to use a chaff grenade he grabbed from the armory before he left the base for Alaska. He pulled the pin on the grenade and made sure that it was rolling before he released the spoon holding it down, the chaff grenade would disable the camera for a while however he would have to be fast as it only lasted for about 20 seconds. After he heard the bang of the grenade he sprinted for the door and slid under the door and drew his rifle and scanned the area that he was in, he then realized that he was in the nuke disposal room where the nukes were being stored. Snake knew that if he hit anything in here it was game over but so did the terrorists, he lowered his weapon and drew his knife as he would be able to use CQC on any enemy that was close enough to him for interrogations in order to get info or if he wanted to literally scare the piss out of someone. As he was sneaking through the room he then heard footsteps on the catwalk above him, it sounded a bit heavy for a normal soldier so he knew that he was hearing either a bomber or someone with a armored suit. Snake then thought of letting the enemy think that no one was there and employ the ghost trick and began to sneak towards the elevator to go to the offices of the building. As he arrived on the floor he saw one of the enemies leading a hostage towards an office, Snake knew that he had to be quick on his feet or that hostage was going to be killed. He got behind the terrorist just as fast as he ever could and drug him into the office and began to extract info from him, as he was doing this Snake could hear more enemies approaching the office he was in he had to think fast as if he made any kind of mistake he was surely going to put himself and the hostage at risk. Snake then slit the throat of his captive and waited for the enemies to enter the office, instead they kept walking past and didn't even check if Snake was even there or as to why there was no sound in the room. Snake then checked who the hostage was and lo and behold it was an old face he hadn't seen since he was aboard Arsenal Gear against Liquid and that was Meryl Silverbaugh. She then said to Snake "What the hell? Snake what are you doing here? I thought you retired?" Snake then said to her "I took the offer from that woman on board that naval vessel. She might have intel on a Metal Gear for me so I need to find out what she knows." Meryl then said after a look of confusion "How? I thought all the metal gears were wiped out when we took down Liquid?" Snake then said "I'm not sure how they could have one but right now I need to know about it. And I need to inform Six that you're a hostage needing extraction." Meryl then said with a scoff "I'll be fine just give me a gun for now." Snake then said "I'm afraid I can't do that, besides these weapons are ID locked and I can't unlock then for you to use them." She scoffed again and said "fine whatever call your boss or whatever she is to you." Snake shrugged to himself and called Six on his codec "This is Snake, Six I need a way to extract one hostage at the Disposal Building." Six then said "What? You found a hostage? Snake get them to extraction now! They have info on what's going on here!" Snake nodded and signed off he then faced Meryl and said "You're leaving now follow me and don't get caught." She nodded and followed to the extraction point, as they made they're way through Meryl had flashbacks of her own in the building from being one of the soldiers to seeing Snake fight his brother on top of Rex. As they made it to the ground floor Snake could hear the heavy footsteps again, this time he waited until the enemy was close to him and used his CQC on them to take them down and interrogate them. Meryl his against the wall near Snake and watched his back while he extracted info from the soldier, after a few minutes Snake had what he needed and that was locations of the enemies. His solid eye was updated and Snake could see their patrol routes and how far they were from him in meters. They then left the building and Snake heard his codec beep, he then heard Blackbeard across the radio from a small vessel just outside the fence tell Snake "Hey I'm at the cave you care in from have the hostage ready I'll escort them from the tank building to extraction." Snake then said to him "10-4 stay near the elevator and watch yourself there's been some cameras recently placed. Hostage will be heading your way shortly. Out." Snake gave his infamous signal for when he left a comrade alone and he disappeared through the snow into the Disposal building. He knew that Meryl would be safe however he also knew how stubborn she was so he decided to use his suit to his advantage. In order for Meryl to find Snake she'd have to cross the snowfield and Snake would be able to see here due to the bright orange jumpsuit she was wearing. After a few minutes he didn't see her which either meant she went to B.B. or she found an outfit and snuck by Snake, he called B.B. to see if she made it to him and immediately he heard laughing from both of them so he quickly ended the call before they noticed he was there listening. He turned off the codec and pushed himself through the frigid air back into the building, he sighed and said "this is pointless there's nothing here..." Six came across the codec and said "Snake got some intel for ya. Head towards the office you fought Mantis in, when you get there find the computer and see what's been going on lately." As he was walking there he could hear something in the background but it wasn't from footsteps or voices, instead he heard machines whirring to life and beginning to move again. He then began to feel the air change around and at that moment he began to feel weak but he wasn't blacking out instead there was poison gas being flooded into the room. He booked it the elevator and as it arrived he pried the doors open and forced them shit before the poison filled his lungs. He then called Six and said to her "Six, check the logs for this building there's some sort of gas being used here but it can't be the type when I was first here the pipes are frozen. Six thought for a moment before she was cut off by Tachanka saying "listen comrade one of our Spetsnaz guys said he believes that a Russian operator may have tampered with them and fixed the issue so be careful!" Snake then said "thanks for the update....Valkyrie did you get any intel from your cams?" She responded by saying "yeah these guys are seriously crazy being here but judging by what they said it's legit Snake, they've got something big brewing just be careful alright?" Snake nodded and said "don't worry I can handle it." He shut off the codec and began to move once the elevator stopped at the offices he grabbed his pistol and checked his corners before he grabbed his rifle, he followed standard procedure the Army uses for infiltration along with what Big Boss taught him years ago. He then heard his mentors words in his head say "Snake, try to remember some of the basics of CQC." He then slung his rifle over his shoulder so that it rested on his back he then knelt down and grabbed his knife out of the holster on his leg drawing his pistol with his other hand. He searched the area once more and just like Big Boss he moved forward slowly and carefully making very little noise his solid eye began to track enemies that were nearby judging by the foot traffic Snake could guess that they were using this building as their staging ground or they had something else up their sleeves. He could only guess what they were doing there, and he really didn't want to know yet but he knew he also was going to find out soon enough. He then walked into the office where he fought Mantis and there on a table with a 3D hologram sat the finished prototype for a new Metal Gear. He knew what was going on and as he went to call Six he heard footsteps coming and he knew it wasn't backup this was going to be a fight and he had enough ammo for about 15 people....could he fight them off or would he be taken down in the same room as Mantis?
