Team OPLL- A RWBY story. Volume 1

Chapter 5: Adjusting to Beacon

I woke up to Lapis poking me in the head. 

"Wake up already." I swatted her hand away. 

"What?" I asked, sleepily. 

"Classes start in an hour and you still have to shower. Oh, and you have a package from Professor Ozpin." 

I got out of bed and went to the desk I had claimed last night. Sure enough, there was a brown package laying there. I opened and found a note on top of a school uniform. The note read. "More will be coming. I have a friend who owns a tailor shop. Please where the uniform when you attend classes- Professor Ozpin" 

"I really hope nothing has to go over head." I said. 

Lapis looked at me confused. I just pointed to my horns. 

"Right, those would make that difficult." She said. I nodded. 

I grabbed the package and headed for the showers. I showered, dried off, and put on the uniform. White button up shirt, red tie, blue vest, black jacket and pants. No shoes. Never needed them. I looked at myself in the mirror. 

I thought I looked ridiculous. I went back to OPLL's room and saw that the others had changed too. White shirts, plaid skirts, black jackets, and red ribbon ties. Carli was wearing black tights under her skirt and had her cloak on and her hood up. 

"Wow Ox. You look.... formal." Lapis said. 

"I feel like a clown." I said. I didn't like long pants or sleeves. They restricted my movements too much and where I'm from that could be fatal. Guess I needed to start adjusting to kingdom life. 

"Well you look good." Lapis said. Carli and Lazuli nodded in agreement. 

"What's our first class?" I asked. 

"Professor Port's Grimm class. It starts in twenty minutes." 

"Alright, well, grab your bags and let's head that way." I said. They nodded. We all grabbed our stuff and headed out. I wondered if we would have any classes with RWBY or JNPR. Other than Weiss, they all seemed to be good people. 

I noticed Carli walking close to me, almost bumping into my hip on a couple occasions. 

"You ok?" I asked. She nodded. 

"nerves I guess." she said, quietly. 

Lapis moved next to her. "Don't worry. We got your back. Besides, it's just class. How scary can it be?"

We got to class took our seats in the second row from the bottom. I took the edge by the stairs, with Carli, Lapis, and Lazuli filling in after me.

 About one minute before class was supposed to start, team RWBY burst through the door, followed by team JNPR. RWBY filled in the row below us. 

"Cutting it kind of close there huh Ruby?" I said.

"Oh, you know, got distracted moving in." 

"You didn't move in last night?" She just hung her head in defeat. 

"no."

With that Professor Port cleared his throat and started lecturing. Man knew what he was talking about. I liked him. 

I noticed Carli taking very detailed notes, while Lapis, Lazuli, and I were taking average to little notes. I wasn't paying much attention till I heard him call Weiss down. 

I watch as she, sloppily, fought and defeated a Boarbatusk. Professor Port dismissed the class.I saw Ruby and Weiss arguing outside. 

"Hope they can make it work." Lapis said.

"No kidding." I said. 

The rest of the days classes were uneventful. We had some time after dinner and before we should probably head to bed, so I suggested we go for a walk around campus. 

We returned to the room and changed out of our uniforms and into our casual clothes. No weapons though. 

So far, my first couple days at Beacon were going great. Lapis and Lazuli had already decided that we were going into Vale over the weekend to do some shopping.Specifically, for me. Fair enough. I only had four vests and three pairs of shorts. Carli said she knew of a good salon that catered to Faunus, and that we could find a good shampoo for my fur. Oh joy. 

We were by the fountain in the courtyard when we heard them. 

"Hey look. The freak and his team are out and about." I looked to see four men in armor by the trees. I recognized them from the ceremony. 

Team CRDL. Led by Cardin Winchester. 

"What do you want Cardin?" I asked, keeping my tone civil. 

"We just wanted to know how a freak like you got into Beacon in the first place?" 

"None of your business, lay off." Lapis said. 

"I had hoped someone as beautiful as you wouldn't have been a traitor." Cardin sneered, shoving her away. 

I charged forward. "Don't you dare touch her!" I roared, grabbing him by the armor and pushing him into a tree. "Say what you want about me. But don't you dare hurt a member of my team." I snarled. He just stuttered, his team was watching in disbelief. 

I dropped him. "Let's go girls."I said. 

"You're going to regret that freak!" Cardin yelled after us. 

I ignored him, and we went back to our room. I turned to my team. 

"How are you guys?" I asked. 

"Angry." Lapis said. "I mean, I can't believe people still think like that in this day and age. And the fact that those mouth breathers just follow him without question. UGH!" She said, throwing her hands in the air. 

I turned to Carli. "How are you holding up?" I asked. 

She looked up and tried to put on a brave face. "nothing I haven't heard before. besides this time, they weren't aimed at me." She choked out, before bursting into tears. 

I went over and wrapped her in a hug. "Hey now. It's ok." I soothed. Lapis and Lazuli came over. 

"I can take anything they can throw at me. I've fought my way through way worse than some simple-minded morons." I said. She looked up. 

"I'm sorry about breaking down like this. I know I should be stronger. I just.... i just...." She started to say before choking up again. 

"It's ok Carli." Said Lazuli. "While we might not know exactly what you've gone through, we're still here for you no matter what." 

I had noticed that, while Lazuli doesn't talk very much, she usually says the right things. 

"thank you." Carli said, quietly. We all just sat there. 

I realized that even though we didn't know all that much about each other, we were all willing to fight for each other.
