In the end of the first book, Raven wonders why she has these odd little bruise marks on her right arm, but what she doesn't know is that during some of her more frequent nightmares, she will actually grab hold of her shoulder as if she needs to hold onto something.
This is also why she sleeps with a childhood toy, but don't tell anyone I know this...
