It was taking Loki a while to get used to Earth. There were strange customs and even stranger vehicles and far stranger people.

However, he had quickly fallen in love with a place. The library, near Stark Towers, where he was at ting was the most magnificent place he had ever been.

Loki had been rather suspicious when Dr Banner had said he was taking him somewhere he'd love, but, oh, how he was right. A big beautiful place, filled with big beautiful books and right at the centre was beautiful beautiful you.

You were perfect, in his not so humble opinion - a worker at the library. Due to the quiet nature of the library, not many people came, but that gave Loki all the more time to observe you as you scanned the aisles for a good read and sat smiling as you read to yourself.

Of course, he still hadn't talked to you - other than one occasion where you were working to checkouts and he stuttered and stumbled over his words just looking at you. How was he, a god, reduced to a stuttering mess by a mortal?

Well, Loki had come to a conclusion. You were perfect. And today was the day he'd finally talk to you.

However he was regretting his decision almost immediately as his voice cracked into the highest pitch as he attempted to say hi.

You look up from the book on your lap, smiling.
"Hi. I've seen you before right? You took out the complete Norse mythology works, didn't you?"

Blushing for some obtuse reason, Loki replies. "Uh, yes, yes. That was me."
"You like them?"
"Of course! Yes, uh, yes, very amusing. Quite funny what the mortals - I mean, uh, people thought the gods would do."
You raise an eyebrow at him.
"I mean - uh, oh, damnit. I'm sorry, I'm really bad at this. Uh, can we start over? I'm Loki."

You laugh at this odd, yet sweet man before you. "Of course. I'm Y/N and if you liked the Norse mythology, we have an entire section here dedicated to other mythologies that I'm sure you'd find highly amusing too. Would you like to maybe meet up and talk about them some time, over a drink?"

Blushing even more furiously, Loki laughs too. "I would like that very much, Y/N."
Standing up, you put your book into your bag. Grinning, you begin to lead him to the Mythology section, before stopping.

"Loki?"
"Yes?"
"Did you know that your Norse namesake had sex with a horse?"

Oh, wait until he told you that was him.
