Chapter Thirty-Six- Crashing Down

"Thanks for stating the obvious, Aaron." His blatant comment wasn't exactly needed.

"Well excuse me if I wanted to break the silence and didn't know what else to say. Where are we though?"

We all paused to look around. We were in an open field with a few sparse, mangled-looking trees. The grass under my feet was shriveled and brown, crunching with every step I took as I continued to view the surrounding landscape. A few yards away was a dilapidated wooden house, the grey paint chipped and fading showing termite-chewed wood. The tree beside it had branches reaching through the shattered windows and leaned at an impossible angle.

"I'm just gonna stick with my previous statement," Aaron said after a notable pause.

"Why because you're too illiterate to think of something else to say?"

Eric's retort was quick , but Aaron immediately answered him, saying "Careful. Don't trip over those big words."

I heard laughter from beside me and turned to look at the source. "Olivia!" I opened my arms, giving her an invitation to hug me. I hadn't seen her since Cuba. It actually wasn't that long but it felt like forever. She hugged me tightly, not discouraged by the situation.

"Wait... Olivia, how did you-" Eric seemed genuinely concerned. His twin didn't care.

"I bet Sara did it... The plane failure I mean." Aaron cut off Eric to make his assumption.

"She's such a bi-"

"Eric! What word did we agree to use around Olivia?" I quickly covered her ears. Using words like that around Olivia was a bad idea. When Eric and Aaron did it, they were the only examples of midguardian speech that she had. Cursing like a sailor is not how I wanted her to go back to Asgard.

"Fine. Sara is a wench." Eric rolled his eyes and put his arm more firmly around my shoulders. He didn't like having rules...

"Good boy," I told him. He clearly didn't like that though, because he moved his arm to around my waist, pulling me closer with his fingertips digging into my side.

"Hey!" I yelped. His rough movement startled me and pain flared up in my side where his fingers grazed my scar. It took a second, but realization showed on his face. Too bad sympathy wasn't the only thing in his eyes.

"You want me to kiss you and make it better?"

"It doesn't work like that, Eric. I'm not five and neither are you. Even though you act like it sometimes." I glared at him, letting him know it was time to drop the act.

"Well if we're getting technical, you're actually younger than five, so humor me." Before I could push him away or even roll my eyes he pulled me into him and I did forget about the stinging sensation in my side. I could only focus on so much and at that point his lips were more important than my scar.

"Hey, keep it PG!" Aaron yelled at us. He didn't sound upset, I think he'd actually accepted our tendencies to get distracted by each other.

"Better?" Eric questioned. He was smirking at me again in that devilish way when he knew the answer but just wanted to hear me say it. I just rolled my eyes and turned away from him, hiding my smile.

"You guys are cute. It makes me nauseous." Aaron stepped back, covering his mouth in a mockery of throwing up.

"So whenever you and Olivia do anything like that it's fine?" Aaron suddenly chocked on a cough, Olivia turned red, and Eric looked at me, shocked by my quick comment.
