When I first was told I used the wrong pronouns I literally felt so bad. I didn't mean to and I know how it hurts them so I kept saying sorry and they said it's whatever you know just use he/him. And so I was like okay.
When someone else did it to them. I realized it hurt them more when you dragged it on. So now if this does happen I say a quick sorry and move on.
Sometimes you have to learn the correct way to deal with this and although it may feel incredibly embarrassing that you slipped up remember the longer you drag it on the more the person thinks about it.
