Uma's POV

It was the first day of high school at Auradon Prep for fifteen-year-old Uma and she was nervous to say the least. Sure she hadn't had a real problem fitting in for the most part, it was hard not to like her. She was a fun loving, bubbly girl with one flaw....she was the daughter of a villain, Ursula to be exact, as if she could help whose DNA she had. While most people in Auradon didn't judge her, or the others with similar parentage to her, too harshly she could always tell they were waiting for her to slip up and prove that she was just like her sea witch egg donor. Too bad for them though, she was absolutely nothing like that woman...something Uma prided herself on. She was proof that you could come from the worst of the worst and still be a decent person. It was just aggravating having to work so hard to prove that you aren't what everyone else thinks you will turn out to be.

As her mom, as in the woman who was there from the beginning, her father stepped up immediately when he found out about her and took on the title of 'daddy' with pride despite being  happily married with twins on the way, pulled up in front of the ginormous castle Uma felt the anxiousness building up and her mom seemed to catch on to the fact that something was up. It didn't take long before Morgan was asking "First day jitters?" And all Uma could manage to do was nod wordlessly as she looked at the overly welcoming looking castle outside her window as a million thoughts raced through her mind.

What if she didn't fit it here? What if she had a bad encounter with some snobby prince or princess who viewed her as less because of who happened to birth her? What if she couldn't find her classes or her teachers hated her? Oh god, what if she went to class without pants? As she thought about every worse case scenario possible Uma could feel herself starting to hyperventilate, a gentle hand rubbing her back helped her calm down enough to listen to what her adoptive mom had to say "The first day of high school is always scary, but the next few years will be some of the best you'll ever have. I promise you, you're going to love it." Morgan said with a reassuring smile but Uma didn't believe it, something that was given away when she nervously started twirling her freshly straightened, long teal hair around her finger.

Morgan sighed "How about this?" She said, capturing Uma's attention once again "If you absolutely hate it here at the end of the week your dad and I will come to get you. I think you'll love it but I won't make you stay if you don't." As her mom extended her hand to shake Uma's she couldn't help but smile "Deal." Was her reply. Just as Morgan was about to say something else there was a knock on Uma's window and they both looked in the direction it came from. When they saw a maid standing there in a pale yellow dress Uma rolled her window down. When the window was down the maid said "Hello Miss, I'm Gwenie. King Ben and Queen Belle have instructed me to escort you to join your class." Brightly. After informing the maid that it would be just one more second Uma put her window back up to say her goodbye in private before grabbing her purse and getting out of the SUV, watching as her mom drove off in the direction of home before joining the other first years who all looked just as nervous as she did.

Soon after being greeted by the king, queen, prince Ben and Fairy God mother they were all separated into lines of boys and girls so they could receive their class schedules for the term and their sleeping arrangements for the year. After she got her schedule and dorm number Uma started off in search of her room, apparently her things had been delivered there before she arrived which was nice. On the search for room 217 A and not paying very much attention to where she was going Uma felt herself collide with something, rather someone, awfully solid. Instead of the other person allowing her to fall they caught her "Careful there." A thick Scottish, and awfully familiar, said prompting Uma to look up into two piercing blue eyes and a crooked smile. She'd just fallen into the arms of Harry Hook.

"Hi Harry." She said as she straightened herself out and stepped away so there was some space between the pair of them. For as long as she could remember Harry and Uma have been friendly enough and bonded as the children of villains, it was nice to have someone who actually got it to talk to from time to time. No one understood a villain kid better than another villain kid. With his unnaturally charming smile Harry returned the greeting before launching into to telling her he was just making sure his older sister Harriet was settled in before going to his own room. When she learned he was playing tour guide she asked him to show her to her own room.

With a chuckle he agreed before asking her for her room number  "217A" Uma answered when he asked and he laughed again, prompting her to give him a looked that asked "what's so funny?" Catching her expression he stopped laughing enough to explain  "I know exactly where your room is and I know who you're sharing it with." He said in an amused tone. Uma quirked an eyebrow and waited for him to continue "You're going to love this, Harriet is her roommate." He finished and and huge grin crossed her face. Harriet was one of her best friends and it was a huge relief that they'd be sharing a room. At least she knew that she wouldn't be stuck with someone she didn't like all year long.

Unable to contain her excitement Uma rushed Harry to help her find her dorm. Outside her door she thanked him for his help and told him she would see him later before slipping into her room and shutting the door behind her. Once inside Uma her large sized gray tote on the vacant bed nearest the door and said "Honey, I'm home!" Loud enough for Harriet to hear her from where ever she was in the room. Without disappointed Uma heard a voice say "Uma?" As Harriet Hook's  head popped out of one of the closets. Upon seeing each other the two girls squealed and ran to hug each other. They both expressed how glad they were to be sharing a room and Harriet explained how things were at Auradon Prep before the two finished setting up their room and closets how they wanted to. As Uma arranged pictures on her memory board she couldn't help but feel that her mom was right, she was going to love it here.

Author's note: aaaannnndddd here it is! Took me a while since I completely forgot I was going to be visiting family out of the country, but I finally have the first chapter up. I felt bad for it taking this long so it's kind of rushed, but I hope you guys enjoy it anyway. Thank you for being so patient so far and now that I won't have another family trip until late July I should be able to get a few more out. Again I hope you enjoy.
Love you babes,
Taylor
