Ten months later, Luna smoothed down her dress. Today was the day. She was being crowned chief, with her friends and soulmate at her side. She glanced at her clothes once more. A beautiful grey dress, made especially by Ria. The skirt was to the floor and covered in feathers. The top was a simple v-neck that seemed to shimmer slightly. She wore her mother's locket and the crescent moon earrings Sophia had given her when they were soulbound. Her hair was in extravagant, Viking-style braids with beads threaded through, a tradition of the tribe's. She also had the classic war paint on. With one final sigh, she stepped outside. Martha met her and they walked towards the centre of the camp. It was a long journey (given that they lived in what was originally Sophia's castle), and Martha's beautiful brown and gold dress had to be lifted several times. Her heavily pregnant belly did not help. Eventually, they reached camp. All the werewolves wore their finest clothes, as did the vampires. For, the two species had decided that they needed rulers. As Luna was already set to become chief and Sophia was adored by vampires, it was decided that the two would rule both species, with Luna taking the title of chief, to stay with tradition, and Sophia taking the title of queen. Harry awaited them, running forward to his soulmate and clutching her belly. "She's fine, Harry. Our little princess is tough" Martha assured the terrified vampire, as Alice and Ria giggled. Alice's green gown matched the luscious grass, while Ria's sequinned dress matched the dark wine that was being distributed amongst the clearing. Suddenly, a baby's wailing filled the clearing. It was none other than Finley Vincent Isley, who already thrived on attention, just the way his brown-haired mother did, despite being a carbon copy of his other mother, with her ginger hair, pale skin and violet eyes. Coos surrounded him as he calmed, already satisfied with the attention. Luna laughed at the sight, then jumped when the horn sounded. It was time. But where was Sophia? They'd agreed to meet at camp, as they wanted their dresses to be a surprise. She backed her way down the aisle, anticipation filling her. And then, she turned... and was met with a vision. Peachy skin shining in pride, red lips glimmering beautifully, violet eyes glistening with tears. She wore elegant silver and ruby chandelier earrings. Her dress had black bell sleeves elongating into a black corset, before fading in to a tight, shimmering ombré maroon skirt that puffed out at her ankles. Her long, flowing blonde hair was pulled up into an elegant and extravagant bun decorated with rubies. The shining red heart necklace that was Luna's wedding gift to her beautiful queen on her gorgeous chest gave the werewolf tears in her eyes. Her soulmate was truly the most breathtaking creature to ever exist. Sophia reached Luna and pecked her cheek. In return, Luna brushed a stray hair out of her mate's face. They stared into each other's eyes and knew. Luna took a deep breath and took the first step down the aisle.

Sophia clung on to Luna's arm, terrified of the power she was about to receive. She saw thousands of faces staring up at her and resisted the urge to run in opposite direction. Despite being the more social one of the couple, she was also the more anxious one. And making a mistake terrified her. Her breathing increased as she panicked. Then, Luna's hand softly rubbed her arm. Theirs hands locked together, an almost natural response by that point. I love you so much Sophia thought, adoring her soulmate and how well she knew her. Soon, they reached the front. The elders and vampire council began reciting the required speech. Neither of the couple paid attention. Sophia was busy staring deep into her lover's golden eyes, finding them a calming influence. Luna was marvelling at her mate and how lucky she was. When Sophia realised that it was time to finally pay attention, she squeezed her soulmate's hand as a signal. Luna took the hint and moved her attention. "Do you, Luna Woods, accept the responsibilities and power of becoming chief of all wolves?" Sophia heard the deep breath she expected and then the "I accept."
"And do you promise to protect and defend all wolves with your life?" This was it. Two words. And Luna had the power she had been destined since birth. Sophia remembered her lover's heartbreak at the death of the beloved chief three months earlier. She had screamed and sobbed and clung on to Sophia like a monkey for weeks. They had come so far. "I promise" Luna declared and, for a second, Sophia could almost see a silver light surround the new chief. The two hugged, Luna giddy with excitement. Cheers were heard but eventually quietened. The ceremony continued. "And do you, Lady Sophia Woods, accept the responsibilities and power of becoming queen of all vampires?" Deep breaths. Sophia calmed herself as she called out "I accept." Luna instantly squeezed her hand. "And do you promise to guide and lead all vampires with your wisdom and compassion?" Sophia turned to look at everyone's faces. How could she let them down? With a surge of exhilaration, she declared the two words that changed the kingdom for the better: "I promise." Hours later, Sophia and Luna danced at the party. It was a particularly slow waltz, so the two could cuddle into each other. Just the way Luna liked it. Sophia glanced around. Finley was being fawned over by any vampire nearby and even some werewolves. It was clear he didn't need his mothers, who were giggling and kissing softly, while nursing goblets of red wine. Martha sat in Harry's lap as he stroked her swollen belly, whispering in her ear. Werewolves and vampires danced and mingled together, at peace at long last. Luna kissed the slightly taller girl's cheek. "Love you, sunshine" she murmured, clearly angling for something more than a kiss. "I need to tell you something" Sophia muttered, unsure. She had procrastinated until now, but knew it needed to be done. Instantly, Luna's mood changed, concern filling her. "What's wrong, babe?" She asked, staring her mate deep in the eyes. When Sophia didn't respond, Luna added "Beautiful, you can tell me anything, remember?" Just as Luna began rambling, Sophia blurted out "I'm pregnant." Shock filled Luna straight away who immediately backed away. "Sophs..."
"I'm sorry. I- I can get rid of it if you want..." she sobbed, afraid this would happen. "Get rid of it?! Never!" Luna cried out "I cannot wait to start a family with you, Sophia." The two hugged and shared a tender kiss. Luna gently placed her hand on Sophia's belly. "At least we know it worked" Luna smirked, to immediate protest from her mate. After silencing her, the two pulled each other close and smiled.

Nine years later, Echo Luna Woods ran up to her mothers, short black hair with red tips flying out behind her. Her fangs glistened in the light and her odd eyes glinted. One gold and one violet, showing her true nature. A creature of both worlds. The first of her kind. With the ability to transform into a wolf, but the appearance, speed and agility of a vampire. She reached her happy mothers, one grinning in casual clothing and holding a wooden staff, the other smiling softly in a elegant dress and crown. "Mama, what's a soulmate?" She asked her black-haired mother, with unusual curiosity. Luna smirked, more than ready to answer the question. "It's a person. Who you love. Unconditionally. They can be your best friend or your lover. They can make you a better person. And you can do the same to them. But sometimes, you just accept them for who they are when no one else will. They let you discover things about yourself you never knew. Everyone has a soulmate. Sometimes, it's not who you were expecting. But that makes it so much better. So much more exciting" she finished and grinned at her mate. Sophia beamed and kissed her beautiful werewolf on the cheek. "Is mummy your soulmate?" Echo asked, pointing at the blonde vampire as she absorbed the incredible information she had just been given. "Yes, she is, darling. But at the same time, she's so much more than that" Luna explained as Sophia smiled in ecstasy. Echo nodded, hugged her mothers in pride and ran to join her friends. "So, are me and Chrissy soulmates or what?" Finley Vincent Isley remarked, smug at being right. Christina Emerald Heartley giggled and twirled her brown hair, that was so like her father's, round her pale finger, a skin tone that matched her mother's exactly. "I don't know yet. Maybe, Finny" Echo giggled and tousled his ginger hair. Finley sighed and rolled his eyes, then picked his two best friends up and began to tickle them. The three children ended up in a heap on the floor. "If you two are soulmates, who's mine?" Echo questioned. Finley thought, then shrugged. "Maybe you can talk to her through your mind? My daddy says soulmates can do that" Christina suggested, to Echo's delight. Instantly, she cleared her mind and focused on the little dot of light that remained. She pushed a thought forward. Hello?

Miles away, Taylor Copper, princess of the demons, blinked the tears away from her unusual eyes. One orange and one yellow. Her long black hair swished, showing her purple undercut. Nine years old and already dressed in heavy punk wear. Her parents had just, yet again, screamed all too loudly at her. Despite her tiny size, she was incredibly feisty and would shout back at her parents. This resulted in a slap and the bleeding gash across her cheek. She took a shaky breath. She wouldn't cry. That was not happening. Another deep breath and the tears subsided. All she wanted in that moment was someone to love her. A feeling she had never experienced. Then, without warning, a warm presence filled her mind. She gasped in shock. Someone was in her mind. She could feel her. This girl, who was strong and brave and blunt and... different. Different from everyone else. The way Taylor felt. She clung onto this presence, never wanting to let go of the warm feeling that filled her. What happened next shocked her. A single thought filled her mind.

A/N: And it's finished. Thanks for reading Moonlight. I'm writing a sequel, Starlight, about Sophia and Luna's daughter Echo and the princess of demons, Taylor. Again, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed.
