A. P. J. Abdul Kalam [ 1931-2015]  the late and great 'People's President,' but also "Missile Man," the scientific genius who conceived India's missile development and nuclear weaponisation programmes,  responsible for India's first indigenous Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III).  Project director of India's first satellite 'Rohini'. He was chief of the Integrated Guided Missile Development Program and developed five different missiles- Nag, Akash, Trishul, Agni, Prithvi. 

 A practicing Muslim, he embodied India's composite culture, conversant with Indian classical music as well as with sacred Hindu and Muslim sacred texts and also forward looking in terms of science, education and technology.
