Stein's POV

I handed Lilian and Xavier each a glass of water.

"Tell me everything that happened." I said gently.

Xavier applied a warm, wet cloth to his cheek. "Jeremiah called an emergency council meeting this morning." He began. "There was a rumour that Director Renolds kidnapped another group of inhuman teens for testing. As soon as Jeremiah found out, he insisted on attacking. Lilian and I tried to stop him, but..."

"But he was too powerful." I finished. I mentally cursed as I stood to my feet.

The kids all had very concerned looks on their faces. Things have taken a turn for the worst, and they didn't even know it yet.

"Thomas, take care of everyone. I'll be back." I said while taking a sip of the glass of blood sitting in front of me.

"Where are you going?" Lilian asked.

I didn't say anything.

"Ezra, don't." She warned. "Now is not the right time, okay?"

She could always see right through me.

"When is the right time, Lilian? For all I know, Renolds isn't the only human Jeremiah's killed."

"Just be careful. He wouldn't hesitate to hurt you too."

I gave her hand a tight squeeze. Her exhausted green eyes were filled with worry.

"I'll be back." I quickly Left before I could change my mind and headed straight for my car.

I drove in silence through the thick forest surrounding my manor, and to Jeremiah's manor two hours away.

Things were happening faster than I realised they were. I had so much more to teach my students before they were involved in violence like this.

I pulled into his driveway and was greeted by two of his female servants. One of them was an older woman, who I could only compare to Thomas.

The other was a younger lady with chestnut brown hair. She was young and very pale. She also had bite marks on her neck that she tried to cover up with her long locks.

"It's good to see you, Mr. Stein." The older woman said. "Jeremiah is currently in his office."

"Thank you, Abigail." I said in response.

I was led down a long hallway and into Jeremiah's office. Where my brother was sitting with a book in his hand.

"Can I help you?" He said without looking up.

"Why did you do it?" I got straight to the point.

He looked up to greet me. "He did it again, Ezra. Ten inhuman teenagers were kidnapped and taken to him. Those kids were just like your students. I did what I had to do."

I took a seat in one of his guest chairs. "Do you know why the humans are doing this?"

"Not exactly." He admitted. "But I do have reason to believe that they want to find our weaknesses. They want us to be the minority."
