MARIAN

I laughed as I watched the vampires barge in the throne room through the mirror. Seeing their confused faces made me feel so good. That was until one of them mentioned a presence underneath it. I frowned and said, "Ugh. Mirror. I don't want to see them anymore."

"My queen? What are you up to next?" the mirror asked as it returned to its normal form with my reflection on it. I shrugged and said, "I just go with the flow. Planning is for peasants. I can do whatever I want and decided whatever I choose to do."

"You didn't have any backup plan? Or anything?" I chuckled in reply before saying, "I'm too lazy.  I can charm my way out of any trouble as long as you're here." I smiled at my mirror as I looked at my reflection. I frowned as I realized how I'm looking a little older than before.

"What's the matter?" the mirror asked. I let out a deep sigh and replied, "I'm getting old. I can let my beauty be taken away like this! This is unfair! How am I going to charm my way out of trouble?!" The mirror lowed brightly before my reflection on the mirror was replaced by a girl smiling widely at me. Her smile gave me an unsettling feeling. It was like she was expecting this all along and was pleased with it.

I glared at her and said, "Why didn't you tell me? You told me that I'll stay young as long as I have enough lives taken. Enough souls given to you. What did you do to me?!" She let out a chilling laugh before shaking her head.

"I didn't do anything, my queen. You did it to yourself. Every wish comes with a price. Didn't anyone told you that? You've been living for too long so you must know it. I've been with you for a very long time. You should have known by now that your wish comes with a price," she said as she twirled a strand of her hair while smirking. She seemed so confident unlike before.

"I'm so sick of you telling me what to do. I am so eager of getting out of this prison I call mirror. You don't know how long I've been waiting for a person like you to set me free. But it seems like you weren't what I was looking for. You're too slow and too dumb to do any progress. You only do little. So little that it cannot be enough."

"You still haven't taken enough lives for you to stay young. As you grow older, the more souls will be needed in order to stay young and beautiful. Your efforts aren't enough, my queen. Every wish you ask me will need a price to be payed in return." She disappeared and before I know it, I was staring at my own reflection.

"You have a mentality of a vain teen. A spoiled manipulative brat. You could have made a lot of progress faster than anyone could ever imagine but you chose not to exert any effort."

I need to stay in power to get what I want. I need more. It's not enough. It's never going to be enough. I looked at my reflection as it aged. I screamed in fright as it accelerated so fast. I touched my face and screamed even more. I didn't know what to do. "My queen? Once I get out of this mirror. Once I have enough souls....I'm going to come for you next."
