Best Friends Forever

I woke up this morning excited. I was going to give Kody a gift for being so nice to me! I swung my blanket off of me and jumped out of bed. I ran over to my desk and opened the drawer. I looked in it for the gift. I folded my hand over it then pulled it back. I then held my other hand over the first and pulled it close to my chest. I waltzed out the door, ready for the day.
       ~Time Skip~
       It was after school now and I was laying in my bed when I finally decided it was the time to give Kody his gift. I swung my legs around the side of the bed and sat up with them dangling down. I then slide off the bed, landing on my feet. I placed my hand over my pocket as sort of a reassurance that it was still there then reached in and grabbed the gift. I walked out of my room normally but began to trip over my steps as I got closer to Kodys door.
       I finally arrived and slowly reached for the door knob. When my hand arrived at the knob I grabbed it and rested my hand there. It seemed like a whole minute before I turned the knob.
       "Kody?" I asked unsteadily.
"Yeah what's up?" He replied, confused.
       "i-I got you something!" I said, confusing myself by how strongly I ended the sentence.
       We stood there for a moment before I realized I had to actually give it to him not just announce that I would. I extended my arms toward him and he opened his hands which I dropped the gift into. I watched as he examined it.
      "Lumine this says 'Best Friends Forever'" Kody said slowly.
       "Yeah! Do you like it?"
        "A-are we only best fr-einds?"
       I had never heard Kody stutter.
       "No, no. I uh just.. that's the only one I had. I got it for you a long time ago hoping we would end up being best friends.. but I guess this is uh.. better"
