crash & burn

29 2 1

I guess when I first kissed you
That's when I started to miss you-
Your strange eye colored stare,
Your hushing me without a care-
Yet you were always there.

At a concert in a small town,
I knew you would let me down-
A drunken sloppy peck on the cheek
Left me absolutely weak-
And no other man could compete.

We didn't talk for a while after that,
Life moved on without looking back-
A text was shared here or there,
I looked for you everywhere-
Yet admit feelings I wouldn't dare.

Three months of games came to an end,
My broken heart you set out to mend-
I woke up by you in morning light,
My heart sang in delight-
Still it feels fright.

I guess when I started to miss you
That's when I started to wish you
Away from me and
Away from what we could be-
Away from my reality.

God has a way of bringing us back together,
I don't know that it's forever-
I know that I slept with you for a weekend,
I know that my walls have weakened-
I know you were peeking.

In ten years I'll be your wife,
We'll have no fuss or fights-
You'll be the handsome man I loved in a college town,
Life won't let us down-
We hold the kingdom and the crown.

You're not the king of 1 a.m.,
I'm so glad you aren't him-
You were someone unexpected,
Someone I wouldn't have elected-
Yet my world has been wrecked by you.

We'll probably crash & burn,
Take an unexpected turn-
You'll probably love me too,
We'll do things lovers do-
And I'll let you.
