The Walrus and the Hat

Early one Tuesday

While out for a stroll

Peter the walrus

Met Robby the mole

And Robby said "Howdy"

And Peter said "Hey"

And neither could think of

Something better to say

So they stood there awhile

They stood in deep thought

Until Peter took his hat

And said "Look what I've got

I bought it in Norway

While on a long cruise

That's the same day I first saw

A sheep wearing shoes

We met on the boat

And I asked him if he

Could take off his shoes

And give them to me

I told him 'I'm tired

And feeling so hot

And my feet need some shade,

Shade that your feet need not'

And he gave me this look

And, slowly, he said

'Your feet don't look nearly

As hot as your head

Your head is all sweaty

All sweaty and red

You should really do something

About your poor head'

And I asked him, 'O sheep,

What to do about that?'

And then he suggested

That I buy me a hat

I thought it all through

And I said, 'That sounds great.'

And I bought me some hats

I bought no less than eight

This particular hat

That I'm wearing right now

Is my favorite hat

And I will tell you how

I found this grand hat.

'Twas just about dusk

When I noticed a man

Who smelled strongly of musk

He was wearing a coat

That was yellow and green

And the ugliest rain boots

That I've ever seen

And he wore on his head

A most beautiful cap

And, there as I watched him,

He started to nap

Well, I just couldn't let

Such a hat go to waste

Being worn by a man

With such terrible taste
