Cleo's POV
'On your right' I say through the mind link and we begin running. We see the Cullens chasing Victoria and she jumps onto our territory. The Cullen's stop on their side and continue to run along the border as we chase Victoria. I pounce at her and she jumps across the creek onto the Cullens territory making me growl annoyed.
"She'll get away!" one of the Cullens shout.
"No she won't!" another shouts back.
"Emmett no!" I hear one of the female Cullens shout. As Victoria jumped into our territory one of the Cullens tried to follow her. But Paul runs into him, pushing him into the creek. Paul stands growling at the Cullen who hisses in annoyance.
'She got away' Sam states.
'Dammit!' Jacob growls.
'Lets just return to your place Jacob' I announce. Sam gets Paul giving the intruding Cullen and Carlisle one more look. Before we run all run back to Jacob's place. We shift privately and and get dressed. Uncle Bill meets us on the porch.
"Bella and Edward left town, won't be back until Monday" he tells us.
"I'm sure she's fine Jacob, we'll check in when they return and tell Edward to remind his family to not come on to our land. Then I'll be on patrol as it'll be Monday" I tell Jacob. "Besides we have the bonfire and your sister to worry about" I add.
"Thanks Cleo" he says smiling.
"There'll be three or four of us on patrol at once during the weekend. Encase the vampire reappears" Sam states. "Seth you'll be with Jacob, Cleo or I at all times on patrol" he adds.
"Wow, thank you alpha" Seth says smiling at finally being allowed on patrol.
"Don't worry Leah, we'll take care of him" Jared assures her.
(Few days later)
"Why am I here again?" I ask Jacob as we enter the Cullens house. After Bella returned, she invited Jacob to a party at the Cullens house. They are celebrating their future graduation with the humans from their school. Also another vampire was after Bella, but it's a strange. Now the Cullens and pack are taking turns guarding Bella. "Besides she punched you in the face, I think that was her uninviting you" I state.
"So what? We're still going" he tells me and I roll my eyes. Embry and Quil are with us. We enter the main party room and Bella walks over to us.
"What are you doing here?" she asks Jacob.
"You invited me, remember?" he tells her.
"Was my right hook too subtle for you. That was me uninviting you" Bella tells him.
"Look, Bella I'm sorry, about you know...the kiss and your hand. I'd blame it on the whole inner animal thing, but it was really just...me being an ass. I'm really sorry" he apologizes. Bella was going to say something when the pixie haired Cullen appeared and freezed suddenly.
"Alice, what'd you see?" Bella asks her.
"A decision has been made" Alice states.
"What's going on?" Jacob and I ask the pair.
"They're not going to Seattle" Bella says confused.
"No, they're coming here" Alice states. We all go upstairs after the Cullens got rid of the humans. Us wolves stand behind Jacob as he's the highest ranking wolf here and is representing us. "They'll be here in four days" Alice announces.
"This could turn into a bloodbath" Carlisle states.
"Who's behind it?" Edward asks Alice.
"I didn't see anyone I recognized... maybe one" she says.
"I know his face. He's a local. Riley Biers. He didn't start this" Edward states.
"Whoever did is staying out of the action" Alice states.
"They must be playing with the blind spots in your vision" Carlisle says.
"Either way, the army's coming and there aren't enough of us to protect the town" says the Cullen with the Texas accent.
"Hold up. What damn army?" Jacob asks.
"Newborns. Our kind" Carlisle answers.
"What are they after?" I ask with Embry.
"They were passing around Bella's scent. A red blouse" Alice states.
"They're after Bella? What the hell does this mean?" Jacob asks them.
"It means an ugly fight. With lives lost" Carlisle answers.
Jacob looks at Embry, Quil and I. "No Jacob" I say looking at him and he glares at me. I see him mind link someone, no doubt Sam.
"All right, we're in" he tells Carlisle.
"No... you'll get yourself killed. No way" Bella says.
"I wasn't asking for permission" he tells her.
"Jacob. Do you think Sam would agree to... an understanding?" Carlisle asks him.
"So long as we get to kill some vampires" Jacob tells him.
"Jasper?" Carlisle says looking at the Cullen with the Texas accent.
"They'll give us the numbers. The newborns won't know they even exist. That'll give us an edge" Jasper states.
"We'll need to coordinate" Carlisle states.
"Carlisle! They're gonna get hurt!" Bella shouts.
"We'll all need some training. Fighting newborns requires knowledge Jasper has. You're welcome to join us" Carlisle says and Jacob relies the message.
"All right. Name the time and the place" Jacob tells Carlisle.
"Jake, you don't know what you're getting yourself into" Bella tells him.
"Bella, this is what we do. You should be happy. Look at us, working together. You are the one who wanted us to get along, remember?" Jacob tells her.
"Also you lack of faith in our ability to kill newborns is insulting" I state. Jacob and Carlisle confirmed the time and place before we returned home. I went straight to bed as I have an early patrol tomorrow before our training with vampires.
