Game of Life

14 4 2

A tug at my heart,
A grip around my throat,
Untamable is the ocean I am in,

I'd rather drown than stay afloat.

Such a simple way it was,
Somehow, somewhere,
I'd gone askew,
Following the wind, the heat,
In the inferno myself, I threw.

As the game of life moves on,
And the dealer gives me a hand,
A player hums a strange song,

Game's been rigged from the start,
Once unfolded, I see;
Every their card
has  been played on my heart.
