Under your Hadean gaze,
I gulp twice before I write–
I knew your love was a true maze.

Was it more horrifying, that I was the one you chased–
or when my emotions still rose like a tide,
under your hadean gaze.

I could never forget how our fingertips grazed,
making a forbidden spark ignite;
I knew your love was a true maze.

You said, "love is the title of an undying craze"
yet my voices failed to succumb in the fight–
under your hadean gaze.

When I was left in a musical haze
after the hoggish red bite,
I knew your love was a true maze.

For your thirst, my blood was a praise;
you sucked out the moonlight from my night,
and when I feared the hungry malice in your face,
I knew your love was a true maze.

A U T H O R' S    N O T E

This was my first villanelle poem.

Villanelle is a form of poetry consising 19 lines of five tercets and one quatrain with rhyming scheme of a-b-a.

Love may abrase, but obsession can scrub
all your living remnants of your body with itself-
including your soul.
