before you read, i am so sorry if this made you cry

it's been three whole years, three years since the light of his life left him, three years since any ounce of sunlight has filled his room, three years since you've been gone.

it was a painful three years, the most painful in his life. there daniel laid in his bed, crying, the once bright, colorful blue eyes had turned into dark and cold, as if they were lifeless. he hated the fact that you were gone, he remembered the moment he got the horrific phone call. the day his life changed forever

-

he was sitting at home with the boys, they were all goofing off, none of them had a care in the world. things were being thrown everywhere around the large living room, corbyn and zach yelled at the tv as they played an intense game. jonah day on the couch as he tried to relax, jack went outside to skateboard and i sat next to corbyn as i cheered him on

it was late at night and you hadn't come home yet, he constantly checked his phone to see if you had texted him, the every minute felt like an eternity.

'dude it's 10:28 where's y/n?' jonah asked from his spot

'i don't know, i'm gonna call her' he said as he got up and left the chaotic scene

as he tapped your contact, his phone buzzed and your name popped up on his phone.

'oh thank goodness' he breathed to himself as he picked up the phone, the call that would change his life

'hey baby, are you ok?' he smiles

'um is this daniel seavey?' a random voice came from the phone

'um yes, but what are you doing with my girlfriend's phone?' he asked, confused

'i'm sorry sir, i'm the officer that responded to an accident your girlfriend was in. she got involved in a horrible accident. she's on her way to the hospital' the officer said

his knees felt weak, his hands grew sweaty, he stood there frozen in place, hundreds of thoughts ran through his brain

'dude you ok?' corbyn asked as the two other boys joined him

'i-i need to go' he stuttered before thanking the officer and getting the address to the hospital

'where are you going?' jonah yelled as daniel quickly called an uber

-

he finally arrived at the hospital, as he entered, he was directed to the icu. his legs shook with every step, as he stepped closer and closer to your room, the tears started to fall

he saw you laying there, you looked lifeless, your skin was pale and blood was smeared all over your head and arms. he opened the door and entered the room, and there he stood, right next to the love of his life. laying lifeless in the hospital bed

'so i'm assuming you're daniel seavey, the boyfriend of y/n?' a doctor asked as he entered the room

'yes' he said quietly as he wiped away his tears

'what happened to her?' he choked out

'well, she was hit by a drunk driver after he ran a red light. she suffered a broken collarbone, broken legs, a broken arm and a serious concussion. she fell into a coma shortly after arriving to the hospital' he said as he stood next to the broken boy

'is she going to be ok?' he looked at you

'it's hard to say son, only time can tell' the doctor rubbed his shoulder and exited the room

'i'm so sorry y/n' he cried

i love you so much don't ever forget that

-

minutes turned into hours and hours turned into days, those long days turned into weeks. you still hadn't woken up. a tube now protruded from your mouth, a machine helped you breathe, bundles of wires hung from your arms

there the broken boy sat every day for countless hours, singing softly to you as he wished and prayed for you to wake up. the boys would accompany him often as they watched their best friend cry over his lovers almost lifeless body

they knew your fate, they never wanted to acknowledge it, but it was life, and there wasn't much they could do to stop it.

you were never meant to be out that night, you're friends had pulled you to a party that you didn't want to go to. when you decided enough was enough, you left the party and drove over to the boy's house. but instead you were t-boned by a drunk driver who was careless and sped through a red light

at that very moment you could hear commotion all around you, but nothing registered to you. at that moment you knew, you couldn't feel anything. all you thought about was calling daniel.

before the paramedics loaded you onto the ambulance, you asked the officer one thing and one thing only, to call daniel and tell him what happened and if you didn't make it, you asked him to have daniel search for a letter hidden in his nightstand

-

after weeks of fighting, it was time for you to go. everyone was there when the plug was pulled, daniel cried hysterically as he held your cold hand

as he exited your room, the same officer that helped you that night appeared in front of him, he told daniel your message and he immediately rushed home

he tore through his drawers and found your letter, he leaned back onto the wall as he slowly opened the letter, the last piece of you

his eyes scanned the paper as he read your message, more tears escaped his dark eyes as he finished the letter

'if anything were to happen to me, i'm sorry daniel. i want you to know that i love you and only you. i'm glad i got to call you mine while i could, every moment with you was filled with sunshine. thank you for being my light daniel seavey, you were my everything. don't mourn my death, cherish the wonderful life i lived and the wonderful life we lived. tell the boys i love them for me, and also tell my parents too.
i love you daniel seavey,
y/n'

his head hit the wall as he held the letter close to his heart

'i love you too my sunshine, i will never forget you'
