You woke up in the middle of the night. You checked your watch and confirmed it to be a quarter past three in the morning. You stood up from the floor and checked the jar on your bedside table. It was empty. You sighed and decided to go all the way to the kitchen to get yourself some water and perhaps a snack. You washed the tear stains out of your face and upon opening the door to your room, you found Steve sitting on the side of it with his back to the wall.

"God, it's chilling out here." You mumbled to yourself. You remembered that you had asked Jarvis to leave the windows of the hallway open at all times because you liked the wind at the height your floor was. "Steve." You crouched down and shook him. "Wake up." You said and shook him a bit more. He opened his eyes and looked at you.

"Y/N." He immediately teared up. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to... I mean I really do love you but I wouldn't do anything like-"

"Shh." You shushed him. "Get up from the floor first, it's cold here." You said and helped him up. Well, shit. You had officially messed Captain America inside out.

"Please don't leave me." He said, his voice breaking at the thought.

"Let's just get in first." You said and opened the door, "Jarvis, close the hallway windows, please." You said and sat Steve on your bed.

"But Y/N-"

"Take your shoes off." You said and cleaned the mess off your bed to make space for the bigger man. Steve frowned at how messed up you kept your room because if there were any awards for cleanliness at the tower, he was sure he'd get all of them for his room.

He couldn't help but speak, "I can clean your room for you if you want." He said.

"I'm sorry for the mess..." you said, surprised to find yourself blushing. You laid him down on the bed after he took his shoes off and put the covers over him.

"Thanks." He said.

"It's fine. Do you want some warm milk? I was just thinking of getting some." You said and it didn't even take a second for Steve to stand up.

"I'll get it for you." He said and you couldn't help but chuckle.

"Fine. Let's just both go." You said, knowing Steve wouldn't let it go. You grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around him. "You're still cold." You said and he let you tuck the blanket on him even though he wasn't really that cold. He had never seen you care for him and he wanted to live every moment of it.

"Do you want hot cocoa?" He asked as you two took the elevator to the main floor.

"Hmm." You thought for a while. "I would but I really don't know how to make it." You said.

"It's easy. I'll make it for you." He said and walked with you to the kitchen as the elevator doors opened. He opened the front of the blanket so it lay on his shoulders like a cardigan. "Here." He picked you up, catching you by surprise, and sat you on the counter. He put the ingredients in a pan and put it on the stove, lowering the flame so he knew it would take time to brew. He sat next to you and wrapped the blanket around you, pulling you close with him.

"Your hands are cold." He noticed, mentally guilt trapping himself for walking around with a blanket when you were cold all along.

"It's fine." You said and let him hold your hands, loving the warmth his body provided.

Steve put the cocoa in two mugs once it was done and you two drank it on the counter too cuddled up in the blanket. None of you spoke as the mugs emptied and time passed by. You just sat there with your head on Steve's shoulder and his arm around you. "I should get to bed..." you said as you were starting to get sleepy.
