In the company of Skye, the morning flew by!
She always knew how to distract me, knew exactly what I needed, even when I didn't know what that was myself.
In many ways, she was so much like her father. She was charismatic, confident, intelligent and fiercely loyal! I'd also noticed that they both had this pull. It was hard to explain, but people just seemed to gravitate towards them, for guidance and direction.
After my tears had subsided, Skye walked me to Carson's office. She had the patience of a saint, keeping pace with my tortoise speed.
I sat on the chair just outside, and Skye was about to walk away.
Grabbing her arm, I smile. "Where do you think you're going?"
My girl clicked her heels together. "Really?"
"What's going on here ladies?" His gravelly tone made my heart skip, even after all this time.
Skye held a hand out and pulled him into a hug. "Rackel wants me there too, Dad."
He narrowed his eyes at me, but immediately softened when he looked down at his firstborn. She was all snuggled into him, I though my heart was going to burst.
Negan kissed the top of her head. "I want you there too, kiddo." He pulled away from her momentarily. "You're not upset?"
"Why would I be? You've always been a father to me!" This was too much for one pregnant woman to deal with! There was so much love in that moment.
I crumpled, making a noise similar to a whale. "I love you guys so much!"
They both tugged me up, Negan couldn't help but huff, "it's good to have help with the heavy lifting."
Skye and I swatted him at the same time, glad it didn't start another bout of tears.
Dr. Carson joined the emotional display, Negan quickly straightening up.
"Don't worry about that, Sir." Carson raised a brow at him. "If those little babies behave this time, you're going to be a mess."
We shuffled in and sat in our appropriate places. Skye dragged their chairs over to my side as she held my hand. "There's a girl in there! I can feel it!"
Carson squirted the gel on my mountain, my little bubs kicking in response. I could watch them kicking and wiggle for hours.
I looked over to my husband, as he placed his hand on my knee. He always got a little nervous just before we saw them. The leader he was, expected something to go wrong. He seemed to be most comfortable when he was off-kilter.
Carson placed the wand on my belly. The beautiful flutter of baby number one's heartbeat filled the confined space. I looked to the monitor to see them boxing their sibling, wrestling for the precious little space left.
Then Carson repositioned the wand as baby number one's legs flung open. Revealing a little extra.
I whimpered, "is that what I think it is?"
Carson smiled. "That's a boy!"
Just like his Daddy. Showing off his business.
