Chapter Three: The File and Old Enemy

Starbucks, 1:22 PM

Jack's POV:

I sat on the chair near the window, waiting for Tooth. I looked at my coffee mug which now was empty. I'd been here for 30 minutes. I sighed and looked out at the window. I hoped that this idea was great. I wanted to try something new, not like my past 6 months. It's been 6 months since I did nothing.

I heard the café door open. I looked at it and saw Tooth walked in. She had a pixie hair cute with some yellow, green, and purple streak. She brought a file with her. I tried to call her name and wave so she could see me. She looked around and saw me waving at her. She walked to me and gave me a friendly hug. I hugged back.

"Hey, Jack. It's been 6 months, huh?" Tooth asked, broke the hug first.

"Yeah, it's been a long time," I said, offering Tooth to sit. Tooth sat and placed the file at the table.

"So, do you want anything? A coffee?" I said while I was trying to sit.

"No thanks. I'm just so excited about my next mission!" Tooth squealed in delight.

Tooth was also a regular spy, like Aster.

"Yeah?" I chuckled and shook my head because of Tooth's expression.

"Yep, my next mission is..." Tooth bit her bottom lip because she couldn't wait to say it.

"What?" I asked, raised one eyebrow.

"I'm going to Indonesia," Tooth screamed in joy. Before I could say anything, Tooth interrupted me. "And the best part is: I'm going to Java and Bali for 3 weeks. I know I go there for a job not a vacation. But, how cool is that? " Tooth said while throwing her fist in the air.

I was speechless. I mean, one of Tooth's dreams was to go visit Indonesia and now she got her dream. I smiled at Tooth. I was happy for her.

"Whoa, Tooth, I don't know what to say," I shrugged. "Congratulations, Tooth." I said to her and kept smiling at her.

"Aster also goes with me to Indonesia," Tooth's cheeks turned red crimson.

"Oh, you mean your crush?" I raised my eyebrows, definitely trying to tease her.

"Jack!" Tooth hissed and I chuckled.

"Well, this mission needs to celebrate. Today is Friday, right? How about tonight, how's that sound?" Tooth asked with a joyful smile on her face.

I smile and nodded, "Sound's awesome."

"Oh yeah, about your request," Tooth cleared her throat. She pushed the file towards me. I looked at the file then to Tooth.

"Maybe it's not enough but, I hope it will help you." Tooth said. I smiled at her.

"Why Black Nightmares operated now? Black Nightmares stops operated 2 years ago. I thought Guardians Company already closed this case." I asked Tooth, looking at my lap.

"We only knew that they never give up," Tooth shrugged and sighed. I still looked at my lap even though I still could see Tooth's movement.

"Look, Jack. I know you tried to help us but, you don't need too." Tooth said almost whispered and placed her little hands on my shoulder. I looked at Tooth.

"I know," I muttered under my breath. Tooth moved her hand away from my shoulder.

"Well, I must go now. It's nice to meet you again. Don't forget the party at my place." Tooth said waved goodbye at me. I just smiled and nodded in respond. I watched Tooth leaved the café.

'Maybe this is a bad idea.' I thought to myself. I don't know what happen to me. I changed my mind over and over again. I ruffled my hair. I grabbed the file and stood up. When I walked to the door someone stop me.

"It's been 6 months, huh?" a cold voice said to me. The voice sounded really familiar. I stopped walking and looked at her. Her head was looking at her tea mug that she held. My eyes widened.

"You..." I spat angrily. I even glared at her.

"Hello, Frost. Long time no see," She lifted her head up so she could see my face.

"Please, take a sit." She said. I sat in front of her, still glared at her. It was The Snow Queen.

She is a criminal that I had been chased for like 3 months (I knows it's a short time). But, Snow Queen is a criminal who is smart and hard to catch. I hated her so much. I never knew what her real name is, no one knew.

She wears black sleeveless turtleneck knee length dress. She also wears women cap so she can hide her hair, even thought I still see some of her platinum blonde hair. I watched her blue eyes looking at her tea mug.

"It's been 6 months since I last saw you on Washington, D.C. How's your-"She said but I cut her.

"What do you want?" I asked coldly.

Her eyebrows twitched. She sipped her tea then placed her mug to the table. I waited for her answer, trying to be calmed because I felt like my head going to explode in any minute.

"I heard you talked about Black Nightmares with your girlfriend," she said looked directly at me.

"She's not my girlfriend." I glared at her.

"Whatever," she rolled her eyes. "And, I see you're trying to get some new adventure, huh?" She said in mocked voice.

"It's not your business." I answered her, still in cold voice.

"Listen, Frost. I know it's not my business," she moved forward, glared at me. "But, I need to warn you about that. That is terrible idea." She leaned to her seat.

"Thank you so much. But I don't think I need your advice." I said.

"I know about Black Nightmares. They're cunning. They like to kill people," she explained, lowing her voice. "Not until halfway through, you will be killed first by them." she continued.

"I still don't care," I said to her. She crossed her arm in front of her chest and gave me an annoying look.

"You are so stubborn, aren't you?" she asked me.

My eyes looked at the ceiling like I was thinking, "Well, a lot of people say that I'm like that." I explained. "But seriously, I really don't care." I got up from sit and started walking.

"Wait," she stopped me from walking. I didn't look at her.

"You're not going to... arrest me?" she asked me, curiously. I turned my head to her so I can see her.

"It's not my job." I simply replied her. Before she could say anything, I walked out from the café.

I know she was confused about what I just said. Maybe, she will find out soon.
