"So, how do you know Jesse Lingard, Len?" Logan asked as the three girls sat in the living room of their London apartment.
Lennox had tried to avoid the question but figured it had to come up at some point. "He used to play football with Bennett when they were younger." Bennett Rousseau was Lennox's older brother; he had joined Chelsea's Youth Team at the age of seven, only to bow out not even a decade later, finding his true calling as a sports physio instead. His many years playing for England's Youth was how Lennox knew Jesse and Ruben and them. Her bother and her, unlike many siblings she knew, were close and shared many friends.
Lennox was incredibly close to Ruben, especially, and shared a bond with him that she didn't with the other boys... and when they had a falling out many years later (as dramatic teenagers do), Lennox grew apart from Jesse and the others. The fight they had was big enough for Bennett to stop mentioning or bringing the boys around their house.
Lennox got over it, though. She found the best of friends in Rebekah and Logan, both of whom she'd met at university. Rebekah was going into sports journalism and Logan had found her calling in art. Lennox, however, had always been a dancer, a ballerina.
She'd taken ballet lessons months after learning how to walk and hadn't stopped dancing since.
"And you were friends with him? With all of them?" Logan asked.
Lennox nodded. "We had a falling out a few years ago and just never reconnected. Well, I've been talking on and off with Jess but I haven't spoken to the other boys in years."
"What was the falling out over?" Rebekah inquired.
Lennox took a deep breath before answering, "My breakup with Ruben..."
