Chapter 6

Beckham's POV

After diliberately ignoring the Princess, I made my way into the ballroom.

I hope Isaac covered for me.

I felt bad not staying and introducing myself, but I figured she would want to stay and talk and I didn't want to accidently say something that contradicted with what Isaac was saying. Our scheme could be over before it even started.

Plus, I had work to do. Pleasure was not apart of my mission.

There were already so many teenagers in here. There was no way I was going to get a good look around the place.

I was about to start making my way around the room, when Princess Ren got up on stage to make an address.

Woah.

I didn't get a good look at her a few minutes ago because I was rushing inside, but now...

She had definitely grown since the last time I saw her and now, I was a little jealous that Isaac had her all to himself a little while ago.

It was my fault, though.

I only realized I was staring after Isaac came over and elbowed me in the side.

He had a knowing smirk on his face and he said, "Hot, huh?"

"Yeah,'' I cleared my throat.

"She has certainly grown since we were kids, in more ways than one," he said suggestively, as he stared at her.

"Are you suddenly liking this little 'competition'," I asked with a little too much emotion.

"Why? Are you jealous you gave me your spot?''

He laughed as I shook my head with a knowing smile on my face.

"I'm just messing with you man. I could never be with her because I'm not even me. I'm, well, you, so I'm working towards being friends with her and then, hopefully she will set me up with one of hers," he winked.

"Whatever man,'' I shrugged off just as Princess Ren finished her speech.

The music started back up and I saw that as my cue to get back to business.

"I gotta go, but call me if you leave," I said, patting his shoulder.

"Alright, man. Good luck," he called as I walked away.

After minutes of circling the room, I figured there was only one last place to look. The dance floor.

I turned to the nearest female and pulled her closer to me.

"Dance with me," I said huskily in her ear.

All of her friends looked at me with longing eyes and she came without complaint.

Too easy. Not my type.

I danced behind her, all the while looking around seeing if anyone looked like they could be about to murder someone.

I knew it was a long shot, but I had to start somewhere.

After three songs of intense dancing, I twirled her over to another guy and got the heck out of there.

I had aleady been the room for an hour and let me tell you, that was far too long.

It looked like everyone was having fun, but it was not my scene.

I looked around the room to see if I saw Isaac, but there were too many people.

I guess i'll call Eb and see if he has any news.
