As soon as I let the door connect with the wooden frame, I heard my mother behind me.
"Bring your black ass in here so we can talk. Now."
I fought the urge to say yes ma'am, and took my time removing my shoes like I was in trouble or something.
I knew I had made a mess last night, but at the end of the day I was a grown ass man, and I wasn't scared of my momma anymore.
"What's up momma, good morning." I walked into the kitchen and took a seat across from her at the island.
"Where you been?"
I shrugged. "I just had to clear my head."
"And what's going through that head of yours, to possess you to throw things and furniture around?"
"Mid life crisis?"
She snorted. "At 29? If you think this is a crisis, wait till you wanna have sex and your lil man ain't tryna hear none of that."
"Momma!"
"What? I'm just being real, you haven't felt panic yet, trust me. Anyways, I invited your baby mother Nia here so we can all get on one page, or at least be in the same book, that'll help you with at least one of your issues, since you're in a crisis."
I sighed and fought the urge to roll my eyes, cause if my momma saw that, she'd slap me so hard they stuck in the back of my head.
I know I was tweaking, I just didn't wanna have to hear about it from my momma, then Nia, then my other Nia. It was just too much.
"I don't got anything to say to her momma, I'd rather talk to her in court on the record so none of my words get mixed up and confused honestly." I shrugged, leaning off of the island and walking towards the kitchen to see what we had to drink.
The first thing my eyes landed on was Puffy's new summer ciroc, mixed with some fruit juice? Fire, explosion.
"You want a drink ma?" I asked while curating my own, I know she was gonna say no, just wanted to be nice. And I was grown as hell, so I needed her to act like it when she saw me drinking.
"Sure, but alcohol isn't gonna solve anything, or change the fact that Nia's about to pull up."
Oh silly woman, yes it would.
I took two shots and then filled half of my glass with alcohol, before filling the rest of it up with cranberry juice and ice, then went about making my momma a less aggressive version.
"Why do y'all think I can't do things for myself? I got that hoe's number, I can call her anytime." I slid my mom her glass and a coaster before sitting back down across from her.
"Well that hoe." She put air quotes in the air like it wasn't true, but whatever. "Is your only way to financial freedom for you and your daughter, and quite frankly you can't handle things yourself right now son."
