That morning I was woken up by pounding on my front door. she was probably out there for an hour trying to wake me up from my deep sleep.
I opened my eyes slowly as I laid on my the kitchen floor. The door seemed so far as I reached my arm out as an attempt to open it. It was about eleven feet in the distance but it was worth a shot I thought.
"I'm coming" I mumbled as stumbling towards the door.
Rubbing my eyes with my left hand, I slowly open the door with my right. Immediately I felt a force push me back a few steps.
"Three hours I waited before I finally came to the conclusion that you weren't coming" she snapped.
"Shhh" I hushed as pressing my hand against my throbbing head "hung over, over here"
"Drinking? You blew me off to go out drinking! Are you serious?" Sarah threw her hands in the air as her eyes almost pop out of her eyes sockets.
I looked down in shame "I'm sorry"
Her nostrils flared as she clenched both her fists in an absolute rage "you're gonna pick me up at six o'clock on the dot tonight mister! You hear me?"
"Loud and clear" I ran my fingers through my thick dirty blond hair.
"Great I'll see you then!" She threw her arms in the air as storming out of my apartment.
Suddenly my phone began buzzing. Why couldn't people just leave me alone?
"Meet me at Bare Essentials tonight" his voice ordered.
I looked down in shame "I can't go to that strip club anymore Jimmy"
Jimmy Davis was a friend of mine whom I met through college. Jenny and Blake absolutely hated him. So did Eva and Sam, they just never admitted it. A bad influence is what they called him - I always thought it was the other way around, to be honest.
"How come?" He asked.
"You didn't hear?" I raised a brow in surprise.
He was always ahead of everybody else with knowing things. I was surprised he hadn't heard yet.
"I got into a fight and kinda got banned for life" I shrugged as rubbing the back of my head. "And I may have had sex with Kity and cinnamon...on different occasions of course"
"My man" he cried in excitement "this calls for a celebration...tonight we go to the LadyBird"
"Not tonight Jimmy" I shook my head. "I've got a date"
"A date? My man!" Jimmy cried.
Looking back, he was an asshole, but I didn't realize at the time. I should have listened to my friends but I just thought they were trying to ruin my fun, boy was I delusional.
"Bye Jimmy" I rolled my eye as ending the call.

I stood outside her apartment door impatiently as glaring at my cell phone. My left hand sat only an inch away from the door, already making a fist.
5:59 pm my cell read.
Come on. Come on.
6:00 pm.
It's about fucking time.
I knockes on the door three times as sliding my cell back into the pocket of my jeans with my right hand. Suddenly the door swings open, where I found Sarah standing nicely dressed.
She wore a golden yellow wrap maxi dress. Growing up in my society had its advantages. One being, learning about women's fashion because apparently, I need to know what's what.
Sarah glanced down at her gold wristwatch and pursed her lips. She then glanced up to face me.
"Six o'clock on the dot" she noddes with a slight smile "impressive".
I had been standing outside her apartment door for ten minutes, staring at my phone. But she didn't need to know that.
"These are for you" I smiled as pulling my arm out in order to give her the flowers that had been sitting in the backseat of my car "see I told you that I was a gentleman" I grinned.
"I'll put these in the water" she rolled her eyes but kept her smile. "so what are we doing tonight?" She asked as grabbing a vase from her kitchen and filling it up with water.
My eyes wander around the apartment. It was a nice place. Very nice in fact.
"its a secret" I tease as she walked towards me, now with a clutch.
See I remember all that fashion bullshit that was taught in my youth. Jenny says that straight guys are hopeless when it comes to knowing women's fashion, Blake usually agrees by stating that I'm gayer then he is. I always laugh at him when he says that - considering he's bi.
"So are we catching a cab?" She asked as we slowly entered the elevator.
I pressed the G button at the bottom of the panel. Allowing the elevator to bring us to the ground floor.
"Nope" I smiled as the elevator doors opened, "I thought that we should walk"
I forced our arms to link as I smiled widely at her, just as we made it through the exit.
"Okay I'm intrigued" she nodded as we walked down the street "I like a little mystery"
"Interesting" I flashed her a cocky smirk as we began walking down the sidewalk.
"Hey your next victim might not like surprises" she laughed.
"That's why I'll do my homework first" I declared.
"clever" she nodded "remembering small details about a person is very attractive"
"really?" My eyes lit up.
"really" she smiled.
I guessed I was doing a lot of things right - to my surprise.
"Interesting" I nodded.
Suddenly we looked in the distance to see a group of men blowing trumpets. We then spot another man down on one knee in front of a woman. We watched as he pulled out a ring. I never understood marriages or proposals. Why did people make such a big deal? Why do people even bother with marriage? They usually end up in divorce anyway.
"How could anyone love someone that much?" I asked Sarah as we both stood on the sidewalk, watching the group of people across the street.
"Good question," she said softly.
