IF YOU'RE CONFUSED....please read this explanation.
Alright, some of you were saying that you got confused in the last 2 chapters. Well, I will try my best to clear it up. It's actually quite simple.
Amarande and Philip are brothers, John is only their step brother. Amarande changed Rose because..well read this chapter to find out.
But now Rose was offered by Amarande to join them to basically take over the world(or something like that), to just be evil and everything. Rose said YES because she has a plan for both of them...no she doesnt want to join the dark side (She kind of already is..lol). She said yes to save her life and to get back at them. You'll see. Any questions? Ask away.
Oh, and make sure you remember the part where Rose and Amarande talk about how many wives he has had. Hopefully you remember that brief conversation between the two of them earlier in the book.
This isn't the last chapter. I promise. VOTE AND COMMENT! :)
Chapter 27
It was noon, I could tell by the placement of the sun. It stood high and proud above us, it's bright light shining so much that my eyes had started to water. We stood in a field, the yellowed grass was up to my knees. I know why Philip had chosen to meet here. It was because the scenery looked sort of like the place the battle was hundreds of years ago.
I wore a white dress just like I did back then just for kicks. But today, it was made of stronger material, and underneath I had tights and knife holders on my thighs. I wouldn't need a gun, but the knives I had would come in handy with my plan. I also put camouflage zippers on the side of my dress for easy access.
Amarande stood next to me, his hand in mine. I could feel the coolness of the ring he wore on his thumb, and I had to try my hardest not to rip my hand out of his grip. Philip stood opposite of us, his hands folded in front of him as if he was pleased that I had joined his side, which basically was to terrorize people like we're supposed to do. Well, he was going to be very UNPLEASED when I leave this field. If I do.
The wind blew my hair across my face, and I pulled it back with my free hand. I didn't want to upset Amarande. I was supposed to be on his side. I felt him shift beside me.
"So, she finally decides to live our way. Now, it's only a matter if she can prove it." I heard Philip's voice carry across the twenty foot gap between us. That was unexpected. I didn't think I would have to be able to prove it to him. What will I have to do? Stab a human? Deep down I knew that it was worse than that, because of his sick, twisted mind.
"What do you want me to do?" I asked impatiently as I shifted my weight to another foot. The wind was blowing towards me, and I felt as my dress blew backwards and the material melted to my figure. I smirked as Philip saw the outline of the concealed weapons underneath the dress.
"Did we have an ulterior motive, Miss Rose?" Philip asked, and I smiled kindly. Amarande's grip on my hand became harder, almost too hard. I shook my head.
"Of course not, this is just in case this was all a set up. You know I want the power you have, why would I resist a chance to have it?" I questioned, the words flowing easily from my lips. Philip seemed pleased at my statement and he suddenly got the biggest smile on his face. It stretched his cheeks too far. He watched me a few more seconds before gesturing to something behind.
Immediately I heard a groan and stiffened. John.
My head turned to where I heard him. Two big men were carrying him from the shadows of the trees. My eyes could only focus on the gash above his head and how red and inviting the blood looked. I stopped breathing. I knew what would happen if I breathed in the scent.
I then made my eyes lower a but and look into the blue ones. I felt a pang in my chest as I saw him struggle to get out of the hard grip of the men working for Philip. They carried him over to Philip, where they then let him go and land close to Philip's feet. I sighed, and I noticed that Amarande's hand had let go of mine. Thank god for that. He could of seen the way I had stopped breathing.
I heard Philip's laugh rumble over the clearing, and I closed my fists to stop myself from putting my hands over my ears. The trees probably even rustled.
"Brother! You're not looking very well. How unpleasant it is to see you." Philip said to John, leaning down to make sure he got the effect that he was aiming for. To make John seem small compared to him. It worked.
"I could say the same thing to you." John sneered, his fists closed tight as his eyes stayed on mine. I didn't dare move, and I knew what he was feeling. Betrayal. He thought that I had really joined their side. I saw as his teeth clenched from me not showing any emotion. I wanted to. Really bad. I wanted to scream that this was all a joke. But I didn't. It was a matter of life and death.
John's coat was torn, probably from putting up a fight with those guards. Dirt was rubbed across his forehead, and I wanted to wipe it off. The only light thing about him was his eyes. The blue as clear as the sky.
"Rosemary, it is time for you to prove to us that you are loyal. First, you must know the secret of why we are so powerful." Philip said to me. His brown eyes watched my face for any resignation. I should none. Only determination. But it wasn't for the reason he thought it was. I nodded my head to show that I understood. He raised an eyebrow before continuing on.
"Ever wondered why Amarande has had so many wives?" Philip asked. My eyebrows scrunched in confusion. This shouldn't have anything to do with power.
"No." I said to him, my voice coming out confused yet hard at the same time. Philip then put his arms around his back, and I looked up to Amarande beside me who was smirking. I wanted to sneer at them, and tell them where to shove it.
"Well, Rose, because power like this requires a sacrifice." Philip stated, like I was a kid who should've done something better. I closed my eyes for the briefest of seconds, just wishing they would get to the point. I hated waiting.
"Just get to it." I said, my voice controlled but impatient. I shifted my stance so that my arms were crossed against my chest.
"Bossy, just the way I like 'em." Philip said, and I almost jumped then, I wanted to kill him. He continued with his words before I had the chance to get mad at him anymore.
"You kill the one you love, Rose, and then their life essence becomes yours."
